Words cannot describe the awesome.
Looks exciting to drive.
Are they not allowed to tune the suspension for street? You would think with all the money in those rigs they could shell over a couple bucks for some sway bars, heavier springs, and a re-valve.
According to the rules, they can change spring rates, set camber/toe/ride height, adjust sway bars/truck arms, and tune shocks "subject to the limits to be determined by the Series." So I'm sure they limit how street-worthy they can be, to make sure they drive like the wild off-road trucks they are
That is just a pic of one corner, they still have jumps on their courses. To keep setup quick, and to keep from having to clean up dirt, they use steel foldable ramps.
Robby Gordon's SST series is AWESOME.
Make that the main event and they could leave the rest of the cars at home.
Edit:
600 hp, DOT dirt tires, 20+ inches of suspension travel and a concrete canyon street course with steel jumps. What could be more right?
I saw that on youtube. Ended up watching two races. I just couldn't tear myself away. The dynamics reminded me of GTA and a few other 90s video games the way the trucks were moving all over the place.
I've always thought that stadium trucks on the global rallycross course at x games would be awesome.
They look good IN the stadium, too.
We actually worked with the SST guys before our show really got off the ground. I've got a ton of pictures from St Louis. They asked us to go to Chicago with them. I hope next year, we will do big things with them. More than just the Mrs SST contest, which was cool... Maybe I'll upload a pic of that, too....
Speed Energy does a lot of sponsorship with Bigfoot (the monster truck) and the series he races in, since Bob Chandler told USHRA to go berkeley a rake.
Ontopic- I LOVE me some stadium trucks. I'm pretty sure that would be my stupid lotto purchase. Some want a Porsche, some want a Ferrari, I want a goddamn stadium truck. And because it's MN, as long as I can fudge a VIN and some lights, E36 M3's legal!
Used to watch the Mickey Thompson Series all the time. Saw them at the Hoosier Dome a few times. At the beginning, they used the steel ramps. Once met Gordon and the Unsers at a driver meet and greet before the races. Big and Little Al drove Jeep pickups sponsored by Strohs. Very cool racing...
Yeah, we posted the full video the the GRM Facebook last weekend because it's so hilarious. I understand them wanting to keep relatively soft spring rates because there are still jumps on the track, but surely they must be able to adjust the rear brake bias.
Still, I'm glad they didn't. Seeing the drivers try so hard to hold the truck straight under braking is truly entertaining.

Oh, and in that clip right away is a front wheel going incredibly high under throttle. It's nuts.
I watched it when you posted it last weekend. Much entertainment. I like suspension travel, even if it is completely unnecessary travel
I so badly want to build a Ranger stadium truck copy. Not just a lift, but bigger brakes, wider track, all that stuff the keeps the things from flipping.
how do they not flip?
I hope this works out great for Robby. He's been a long time competitor, innovator, and ambassador (got all the or's covered!) for many different types of motorsports. He is one cool cat! He deserves something to go "his way"!

Erm, lack of lateral grip, and balls of sheer unobtainium. And even then, they usually do a pretty good Olympic floor routine impression pretty much every race.
I was working the long beach gp this past spring when they did a few laps and I was impressed. Great spectacle and the crowd seemed to enjoy it. They have so much suspension travel they actually gouged out about 3/4-1 inch of pavement when they landed one of their jumps.
