This happens more often than I'd ever have imagined. I feel sorry for everyone who has had their cars and haulers stolen. I hope they get their things back safe and sound. :(

Stealing racecars and rigs is so, so low. Sorry to hear about yet another case.

People thought it was funny when I do this:

but anything that slows them down will make them look at someone else.

I hope he catches a break and someone sees it before it gets torn apart. This happens too often. I need to hide a GPS tracker in the trailer somewhere.

I assume you mean protecting the trailer by placing a Lotus Europa on it? I'm sure you are aware that determined thieves can simply pick that up and toss it aside.

I've heard of people painting the trailer license plate number on the roof of the trailer in large letters so it can be seen by police patrols from airplanes or helocopters. Have no idea how effective it might be. Not easy for the would be thief to see. Probably the GPS tracker is best.

Actually the idea of putting a harded chain and hardened hasp pad lock through the wheels is a cheap and effective deterent. On a single axle trailer I'e put the chain through the leaf springs then through the rim. Anything to slow a thief down or call attention to what he is trying to do.

Hopefully this combo was stolen by amateurs looking to hoon it up in the racer. Sadly enough if a pro took it the racecar would be either chopped or scrapped. It was most likely stolen for the truck and trailer. With the truck it is very easy to sell the major interior parts, wheels and etc with very little work. With trailers they will usually put it in a remote pasture or a warehouse for 6 months or so and then they are home free.

I despise the kind of people who would steal a racecar. That is just the worst kind of human.

Do it all. GPS locator on the car, truck, and trailer. Chain up the wheels. Numbers on the top. Good alarm on the truck and the trailer. You're not talking a lot of money, compared to the money and time invested in the rig. The results from a GPS locator are incredible. The cops love them too, cause they get a good bust. No, I don't sell them.

One thing i did on my box truck trailer (BOX on old rv trailer) was to use a car alarm and two cheap e-bay car door lock solenoids connected to two regular hardware store sliding gate locks. Arm the aural and the doors lock from the inside even if the out locks are cut they can't get in.

Article said: Indianapolis— Indianapolis police released surveillance video images of a stolen race car, Wednesday, in an effort to track it down. The images reveal two people pushing the car from a truck into a storage locker at Storage Express on Southport Rd on the city's south side. Chicago Hotels Detectives told Fox 59, it belongs to the Sports Club of America out of Kansas. The owner had parked it outside a south side hotel on June 20th when someone snatched it up. John Barlow, a manager at Storage Express, couldn't believe what he saw when scrolling through the surveillance video. "We saw a race car being brought onto the property, being stored inside a storage space for one day," said Barlow. "And then it was being rolled out, actually driven off of the property." He said the quick turnaround made him suspicious so he got on the internet and searched for an stolen race car from Indianapolis. Within seconds, he came across a blog posting about the exact same car. He immediately contacted police. Storage Express also handed over names and drivers license information of everyone who stored items at their south side facility on that day. "It all just kinda came together and we were like 'Yes!' We're going to catch somebody," said Barlow. IMPD detectives believe the car is still in the Indianapolis area. It is a black and white Mazda "Indy Style" race car with the number 27 on it. Police are also looking for three other vehicles also stolen from the same owner on the same night: A white and red Ford F350 pickup with a North Carolina license plate ABB1661, a 24 foot white Pace Arrow trailer, a red Honda Recon ATV. If you have any information about these vehicles, call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS

Seems like they have a plan, I sure hope something goes wrong and they get caught. And then tazed. And then sent to the prison showers.
