I had a Ford Ranger with the awesomely powerful 2.0 liter four cylinder that had the same affliction. Other than the lack of oil pressure issue, it ran really well for me for a couple of years, until a company car coming my way replaced it. I sold it with no moral reservations to the next guy in line.
