Can someone tell me what the secret code is for determining if a Subie has an LSD?
No one knows the secret decoder ring setting to see if a car has an LSD?
Well does anyone know which models, other than the WRX, probably came with an LSD?

Upmarket Foresters(S, XS, XT), '00 and '01 Impreza 2.5RS.... RRRR, I used to know all this. '80s models typically had LSD stamps on ID tags. Maybe I'll take a run outside to look at the wife's Forester and see if it boasts of it's junk in the trunk.

Working on an engine for a kit car.
Didn't the SVX also have the 3.3 H6? And wawazat are you saying only the R160 had the VLSD? What about the tranny section, that's all I'll be using.

Yes, the SVX had the EG33, a 3.3L H-6.

I think all SVX's had the VLSD.

Not sure what you mean by this. All I know is all SVX's came from the factory with autotragics. Manual swaps are possible, though.
I'm using the Subie engine in a middie configuration as a 2WD so I'll be tossing the R160. I really need a 5 speed cause so far I haven't found a way to lock out the rear drive section on a 6 speed.
wrx is open diff for the front afaik. i would check on nasioc.com if the info isnt there...well ehh good luck
I am seriously hoping you are wrong. Since FWD cars usually have more need of an LSD than a RWD and since Saker uses the Subie I'm hoping that means at least the WRXs have a front LSD.
I really didn't want a WRX motor tho, but I guess I can buy a tranny separately and put it on my donor car motor.

Apologies to carguy for not really being able to help.
05+ legacy GTs have them in the back, none in the front though.
STi's get the fancy front diff, makes them more special than plane jane wrxs
I think that aftermarket front diffs exist......and it does, cusco makes it.

I hope that helps, so in theory you could remove the driveshaft to the rear and have all the power go to the front, though I'm not sure how the center diff will react, I think there's 3...stupid time for me

Here's how you handle the center and rear diffs

from what i remember from when i was looking at them, any wrx or legacy/outback with the winter weather package (heated seats, wiper area) came with a rear lsd, and (maybe?) a vlsd center diff, but im thinkin not
Did Subie not put more than a Viscous Limited Slip in any of the fronts? Viscous is better than no LSD, but I'd have guessed they'd have put the good stuff up front where it would do the most good.
Can't wait for the weekend when I'll have time to join & post to nasioc and then get flamed unmercifully.

I have a 2004 WRX with the Winter package. As far as I know, the package was just heated seats, mirrors and wipers, plus rear spoiler and sunroof. I'll try to find the window sticker for the full details.
