Has anyone done it?

Budget, somewhat potentially challenge related, doesn't allow replacement of a $30 part....

TIA.

If it's just a basic old screen type, sure. Done it a few times. A parts washer really helps, as does attention to detail. Really just a tube with a screen on the end of it. You'll be fine as long as you take your time, be careful not to damage the screen, and are thorough about making sure it's completely clean.
