That's awesome! Where was that?

I've loved Paul Simon's music since I was old enough to listen to music. I fear I may have passed that love on to my children, since I occasionally hear my kids humming the tune to "Mother and Child Reunion" or some such Simon song. And I'm pretty sure I have that first New Bohemians disk on my shelf somewhere.

Now that song is stuck in my head

My little brother and I play a lot of Paul Simon songs. Easily among my top 5 songwriters, which puts him at least 2 ahead of Dylan.

I'll just post this up here since this thread got me googling and youtubing on the subject of Simon and Brickell and this came up. You may recognize the banjo player.

I saw Edie on the "Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars" tour. She was opening for Don Henley. She was great--- friendly, fun, very humble and sweet to the audience. They also put on a great show. I'm not sure who was playing guitar for her--- but he was fantastic!

Then Henley came out and was the complete opposite. It was all about him-- he badmouthed Joe Walsh, (I guess they were having a feud at the time) had the drums turned way up, so you could hardly hear anything else, and was an arrogant jerk. (Henley plays the drums) We left early--- one of the only times I've ever left a show before it was over.

I'll always be a fan of hers. Don Henley----well he's written some great songs, but I'd never see him live again.

I have talked to Paul.. a genuinely nice guy with a great sense of humour.

I was doing the focus for one of his shows and I was standing on stage while the LD was playing with the lights for each position. I was standing in Paul's spot when he wandered up on stage for rehearsal. He took one look at me and said "you're too tall."

Nice guy.. the complete opposite of Art Garfunkel

I met Paul one time. A friend of mine, named Julio, and I were down by the schoolyard one day and all of sudden there was Paul Simon. I called him Al. He remained calm, and let it pass right under him like a bridge over troubled waters. I felt really bad, so I apologized and told him I was a rock, but he didn't answer, not at all and I'm not aware of too many things, but I know what I know, if you know what I mean, but that day I learned that there is nothing worse than the sound of silence.

Edie Brickel is the "I'm not aware of too many things. I know what I know, if you know what I mean" girl, right?

Paul Simon is a great guy. My father is a big fan and was fighting cancer. I bumped into him in NYC and chatted for a bit and told him about my father and he signed a get well card for him on the spot. It made my fathers day.
