My father has a decent drag racing following- mostly ford guys. They spend mucho money on motors and I'm sure this could help.

Send them my info. I'm always willing to talk shop. Although a lot of those guys tear down and rebuild throughout the year too. But if I can help I will.

What oil do you plan to use? The dealer did my first 2 changes with 0W-20 but I'm thinking about moving to 5W-30 since I'm in a warm climate and starting to do track days.
Figured 0W-20, I'll go from there with Bob's help. Not planning on doing any track days anytime soon.

The answer is complicated. It's not for everyone.
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question so well. Would the Subaru 2.5 turbo ringland failure show up in these tests? That's about the only engine I have known for being wonky.

I was gonna quote his answer to ya, to say "well said", but I'll saw it here! Great answer.
In reply to Brett_Murphy (Agent of Chaos) :
Maybe? It really depends on if the ring lands are failing because the rings are too tight and causing excessive wear, overheating the top of the piston causing it to break or just metal fatigue that after x number of cycles let's go.
if it's the former you'll see signs of the ring wear in elevated chromium and iron and theoretically should see that excess heat in the oil properties via the oxidation and a rapidly depleting base. If it's the latter everything will look normal until the day it pops.
to be honest I don't know what the failure mode on those are.
I read my responses to the "should I do this" and realize I'd make a terrible salesman. Good thing this isn't feeding my kids (that I don't have). They'd starve lol

Depending on the 0w20 some do handle track time well. Just did one on a Mazda 2 with track time and it held up really well.

I value honesty over salesmanship, all day long. Others do as well. And honestly has its own rewards. Sometimes even financial. Though often not. Sadly.

It might not fit my use case, but your honesty makes me much more likely to suggest your services to friends that could benefit from your services.
