I would never recommend an Xb, especially for a teen girl's first car. In my line of work I've seen several of them wrecked and I have been less than impressed. The Kia Soul is a vastly superior vehicle.

Dr. Hess said:The RAV4 changed a little in 2001 to the 2nd generation, AKA "4.2". I have a 2000, or "4.1". There was a 4.2, I think, with a V6 that was the fastest car Toyota sold that year. Anyway, the RAV4's are great. Practically indestructible. The 4.1's get about 23 MPG if 4WD and manual. The 2WD ones get better mileage. rav4world.com is the place to look up stuff on them.
I’m a big fan. I rented one of those “4.2”’s with the v6. I was in for a nice surprise. That thing went like stink.
wife has a ‘15 base model I4. 4x2. Aside from being a great driving little car, it handles my 10’ drop deck utility trailer better than my ‘13 4 door Rubicon with the max tow package.
