You were at the convention in 09? I was there with my maroon B13 SE-R, the track day was fun but I don't remember that many cars breaking. My experience with SR20's is that they are pretty tough engines (I am on my 8th SR20 powered car). My current car has 278K miles on it and it the original engine has never been opened. I do about 4 track days a year with it and it has been rock solid.

There is a TON of pertinent info in the linked thread regarding NA vs FI, heat issues,high compression small turbo approach, yada yada yada- and everything I read was between 300-400 hp at the wheels.

I know, I know... I've been watching puffers die at the track for years. All those STi's and Evos end up beached. The newer BMWs, VWs and Audis have had issues but those damn Porsches - they are doing something right. For the record - I have used this thread to rule out turbo as an easy power option. I'm saving for the S54 with a knife edged crank at this point. Anybody wanna buy a kidney?

I was, I was co-driving with my friend Steve (superblackz). He had Dave Coleman's old B13. We were parked between chriscar and Russell (who had the turbo ve B13 in drab olive green and the ITA racecar). We had a blast and the car held up great, between us we were out there most of the sessions of the day. I think we went through something like 2.5 tanks of gas that day! His car had a JDM DE, a Koyo radiator, underdrive pulleys for the water pump, and Redline's Water Wetter. We didn't have any temperature issues.

In the surrounding area of where we were parked, Ben Fenner's turbo'd car went down, there was an NA P10 that developed rod knock that they were trying to blow up at the end of the day, and Clean SE-R's NA car was having motor issues, as well. I know that many of the VE guys weren't running very often or were running shorter sessions due to heat.

I was really impressed with Steve's car, we drove it from LA to CT in less than three days and it was an absolute joy to drive. Steve's done many more track days after that one, and the car's been very bulletproof. His DE had 40K miles from Japan, so it's very low mileage for an SR20. Driving his car has definitely put a B13 on my car bucket list!

Interesting, doing a little math, 66mm crank out of an M50B20 in a S50/2 block (86mm bore) gets you to 2300cc's which with the 150% FI equivalency factor that brings you to 3450cc's just under the CM limit, just need to figure out if the rod length is the same and you're probably in not that bad of shape...
