Not too groundbreaking, but I figured some here would want a peek, as I did.
Offside door still doesn't close right, apparently
I would be deathly afraid of taking that thing outside, after all the work done, and the stunning paint job.
Starting with a new shell wouldn't have saved them much time overall. Most of the work was done after the shell was put into shape, and they took advantage of that repair work to add a bunch of extra strength and cable runs etc that would have required disassembly. What amazes me about the build is the apparent long-term planning on display. They had it very well thought out from the start.
This was the first appearance of the car shortly after it was assembled. I'm not surprised it's got some kinks to work out. It was barely running that weekend.
Honestly, I spent a few moments trying to figure out if that was the real Binky. It looked so...Normal, but the visages of our two hosts soon removed all doubt. It is pretty darn W-I-D-E, though.
They had an update on their Youtube page about how they quickly tossed it together to get it out for this event.

They list "tuning" as one of their services on their shop website.
I deeply assume that they were still fitting trim to the car at 5am day-of and "it kinda runs, ship it" was the mindset. Tight deadlines and all that.
I'm so excited to see their finished video. Even if it's a few more months. I applaud their commitment to their vision and that they stuck with what they wanted and didn't change it at all when they started gaining fame. Looking at their lift table and rotisserie it's apparent this is just how they build their own projects and they stayed true to them.
I feel bad watching other people's videos on it because it should be BOM getting my clicks.
Really wanting to see the next hauler video also...

You may have seen photos and videos of a "completed" Binky floating around the internet. Two years ago, we were asked to come and show off the mini at the very first Historic Rally Festival in the UK. As big rally fans and as it was just down the road from us in Shropshire, we jumped at the chance. Due to the pandemic, the event got postponed three times but finally the late August 2021 date was set in stone and we moved heaven and earth in August to try and have the car finished. Despite the all nighters and drafting in help, we failed. It wasn't finished in time, but it kinda looked like it. We made a commitment to the organisers to be there and we damn well weren't going to break that promise. It wasn't our intention to have the mini appearing on other's channels, but we knew we ran the risk at a public event.
Don't worry though, you will all get to see the car finished fairly soon. We've had some set-backs along the way and we are having to undo a lot of the work we did before the event so we can actually film it all for you - we didn't have time while we were rushing to get to Weston Park.
Hoping to get episode 37 out in the next couple of weeks or so as most of it is already filmed, the last section is taking some time because what Nik is planning is utterly insane.
