yes I am serious, So is our customer who bought this new 2016 RSV4 off the dealer lot this weekend.
Yes there will be a build thread in due time. We have a lot of planning to do before we get started.
I have to get up at 4:30 tomorrow morning to call Quaife UK about one of their special reversing motorcycle differentials.

Is that a new body shell or just very straight and solid?

Actually quite rusty, just back from acid dipping.

So cool!
Its a 600, correct?
It is, for the time being
This project is the true test of all of our collective skillsets.
It will be rebodied in aluminum by our metalshaper incorporating the best bits of all the period Abarth cars. Primary inspiration is the Simca 1300gt
I will be redesigning the suspension, fitting the new drivetrain and making everything actually work.
Others will be providing the muscle and labor to help get it done.
The actual Zagato bodied Abarths have gotten so valuable that you can't build a crazy one. This is our solution to that problem.
A new off the lot bike as an engine donor.. crazy.

So that's what throwing gasoline on a burning pile of hundreds looks like. Can't wait to see how this turns out.

Question, why bother starting with an old body shell at all? Why not just build a tube frame and custom body it?
Can i have the rest of the bike?
So.........is this a 'see you BenModified and raise you' ?

More like the fulfillment of our collective long time ambitions.
As to why start with an old Fiat? We are a vintage car shop. We tend to specialize in old Fiat based Abarths. We are continuing in the tradition of Abarth and the Italian coachbuilders. Yes we are starting with a compromised platform and we know that. That is part of the fun.
This will be a heavily documented build and we are hoping to use it to draw attention to ourselves. You GRM'ers just get a more "behind the scenes" perspective.
Yes we can restore your vintage car to concourse condition, we do that all the time. We have cars in Concorso Italiano and the Quail every year. This is something special that not everyone can or will do.
The process and result should be an absoludicrous amount of fun.
Again. This isn't the build thread. That will come soon. This is just a teaser.
I cut up another 600 and sent the front and rear halves out to be dipped.
These will be the jigs on which I will model the suspension. They are due back on wednesday. I have to make rotating mounts for them and then get them painted in something that will provide contrast for the new fabricated pieces. Gotta look good on social media, right?
Well I'm onboard for this and maybe y'all will have this finished before 'binky'. Is there a website for the shop to view past efforts?
Very excited to see how this progresses! I've always loved tiny cars, Abarths, bike-engined cars, and Aprilias, so this one ticks a lot of boxes for me!
