Uh-huh. We'll just see when real drivers are driving production trucks. I still have my doubts.
I don't know what it is about pickups, but they seem to bring out the worst dick-swinging, outrageous claims, and utter BS of any vehicle. The reality is that ALL modern trucks are pretty great.

You're talking to someone who bought a new mustang and then got rid of it within a year......I don't think he cares about depreciation as long as it works well.

It's only money!
And as mentioned, if I drive a new vehicle for 10 years........I'm more concerned with maintaining it properly and getting EXACTLY what I want, than going overkill.
And on the Mustang, I paid $30,675 for it.........traded it in for $28,500 after 6 months. I essentially rented it.

Double check incentives......you CAN stack dealer incentives and manufacturor ones.....theres also several that neither dealer or manufacturor will bother informing you about.

n fact, the new Ram 1500 won five separate events (both autocross tests, both hill-climb events and the empty zero-to-60 run), as well as coming in a close second in three categories. Additionally, the new Ram was a strong player with our judges, winning both the interior and overall value categories.
None of these are the new Diesel, either.
I like the Ram, but I wouldn't spend my own money on one. Chrysler products just don't inspire confidence.

This, nothing Javelin posts will change it either. Chrysler has earned its reputation and will have to work a LONG time to sway people back to ever considering them again. My biggest issue is that I live in the land of rust......and by rust, I mean 3yo rams with their beds rusting away rust. Everything else seems to take at least a decade.

If only a Korean company made a truck. :D :D
They'd screw it up just like toyota/nissan. lol

Link #1 - All subjective comments, with the exception of one being 0.5 seconds faster with a trailer in the 1/4 mile..........decision made!
Link #2 - Two models I'm not considering
Link #3 - Puts the Ford as the winner, complained about the interior, but again on a much lower trim level, not exactly apples-to-apples
Not exactly sure what they prove, yes the Dodge is better than the Tundra....but who cares, I'm really interested in the F-150, not which 2nd place truck beat which 5th place truck.
I'll still likely go drive all but the Tundra/Titan............
Bobzilla wrote:

To be fair, the only real problem with the Titan is that it's nearly two generations behind the competition at this point. When it came out in ~2003, it was as good as any half-ton on the market. They just haven't updated it. I know there was a plan to turn it into a rebadged Dodge in 2009 or so, but the Chrysler bankruptcy killed that.

You got a lemon. And you must be the most biased person in the world if that was the most uncomfortable vehicle you've owned.
Although, now that I say that, it is the second most uncomfortable one that I have owned. The most is my current Miata. But when you consider that the more comfortable cars was a BMW, a SAAB, a Nissan Maxima, and a Crown Vic, it isn't really saying much. Certainly the Tundra is more comfortable than my girlfriends Corolla.

If you have aspirations of ever wrenching on your truck, I would encourage you to have a look under the hood of F150 and then have a look a under the hood of either the Chevy or Tundra.
SUBJECTIVE: The F150 is the best-driving half ton truck out there, in my experience / opinion. I compared and that's what I bought.
OBJECTIVE: The F150 is a hot mess under the hood..at least on the 5.4 I had. Probably not an issue if you're buying new and leaving it stock.
It was our delivery truck. The second one ate it's first trans the week after I left there. I think it was in the 40-50k mile range at that point. So either they got two new lemons in a row.....
As for comfort, the bench seat sucked. It was like sitting on a bubble. Sitting on a moving, bouncing bubble for a 5 hour round trip to deliver parts was not comfy.

Oh, point of info: My brother drives a Tundra. He loves his Tundra. He also sold Toyota's for about a year. After that year, he said that his next truck will be an F150. And that was after driving the new EVERYTHING, since his dealership had every brand (different lots).
That is saying something about the F150. He said that he would go with the 5.0, only because he doesn't like new technology the first go-around.

OK, then compare apples to apples. Go out and find any stripped down truck with a bench seat. They all suck.

Definitely would be leaving it stock.
As mentioned, I have no desire to be futzing around with my DD. It will remain stock, save for tinted windows possibly.

At the time I owned a 1989 Chevy with the Bench. It was worn out, with springs poking me and was still more comfortable.

Actually its pretty simple looking at the 3.5L TT sitting in there, its nowhere near the clusterberkeley that awaited 2v modular owners when they just wanted to change their spark plugs.

I traded mine in with 140k on the original plugs. I considered it deferred cylinder head damage, not deferred maintenance. Non-serviceable u-joints were a real gem, too.
Other than driveline /transmission issues resulting from trying to use a half ton as a tow vehicle, I had zero failures with my F150. I had to replace a brake caliper because the terra cotta piston cracked, but I consider that a wear item.
The interior and suspension held up very well.
