Beautiful cars driven hard. Pretty close racing. It doesn't get much better in my book.
Is there anything similar in the States?

No, all of our historic racers are entirely crash averse. I have watched a lot of the Touring Car Masters races and they bend a few cars up. Always common enough base car to find another body shell though.
This is an easy statement to defend. It's awesome. And they race at Mt. Panorama.
The Europeans and the Aussies tend to race their vintage cars harder than the US from what I've seen. Even the unique precious multimillion dollar jewels.
The Big Bore production car race at Road America Vintage weekend, (July, I think), was a flat out fender banging race the 3 times I attended. It may have calmed down....

This is a great post. I had forgotten how good the Touring Car Masters are, so I guess it’s time for a refresher. Into the YouTube hole I go!
I really dig how hard they push these old cars. Every race I’ve watched has been super competitive and they sure aren’t shy about having a little contact. A+++
Recently picked up a former TR8 GT1 race car. Last time it was on track was in 85/86. Was built to run CP in the early 80s but that class ended. Only place SCCA would let it run was in GT1 in 85. Story I got was the builder of car was afraid of it, and ended up racing FF instead. Got pushed into a transporter and left there until last summer, when his estate was settled. Can't wait to finish going thru it and hit some historic/vintage races. I guess this would count as a big bore production car.
I think I've watched every TCM race on you tube. I absolutely love the in car shots. Hearing the engines scream while they slam through the gears gets me all giddy.
If anyone didnt already know the Muscle Car Masters from New Zealand are basically the same. Between the two series there's a nice library of races to watch.
