The WRX came with a giant boyracer carbon fiber hood scoop (& I love it).  I notice the glossy finish is getting a bit faded and just washing doesn't restore it.  I remember my old Scion friend had a CF hood and had a hell of a time keeping it nice.

What's the easiest way to restore the shiny gloss?  Or cheapest maybe, since it's just a hood scoop and not a full hood or trunk.

The problem is the resin used to make that hood didn't have very good UV resistance, so outside of painting it there's probably not much you can do.

Polis it out and lay down another layer of clear on top. It will come back.

I was going to say. Look for a clear coat that is UV resistant.

For the noob, would that be a rattle can clear coat, or a brush-on?  (Or both/either?)

Back when the new super Corvettes had exposed carbon fiber (hood parts, I think) the UV resistant resin  they were using was $10,000/gal.

The epoxy we use building surfboards is UV resistant but it can only do so much and they eventually succumb to the sun. Being black really hurts you in this case.

Now I'm curious what my friend did to his hood.  I know he didn't redo the clear.
