Minor thread jacking ahead: I disagree that a Q ship requires a V8 or prestige.
Historically speaking a literal Q ship was a gun boat desguised as a lowly cargo ship to bait German U-boats into exposing themselves for an easy kill, until the hunter realizes that they've become the hunted.
There is a fine line between Qship and sleeper.

LOL, I was ready to post that this is a lower case q ship.
I'm running studded Hak 7s at the moment. It'll break loose at 30mph if I floor it. It needs proper tires to really haul, but the Haks are a lot of fum :)
I really thought this thread was going to be about someone's Q45 challenge car. I'm mildly confused, but intrigued that in 10 years I could buy a fun Hyundai when they reach my price bracket.

Starting in 2016 model year the chassis got 40% stiffer, ditching the torsion bar rear will definitely change things as well. I'm willing to bet the new Sport reminds you most of the FoST than it does the 2015 (I'm going to say 80% of of feel of the FoST minimum).

As an owner of that platform's first generation (10-13 Forte), rear shocks and sway bar make a HUGENORMOUS difference in comfort/handling on those. I personally recomend Koni's in the back, 1/4 turn up from full soft. Still soft enough for daily duties with crappy roads, but controlled enough that when the road gets twisty it stays composed.
Don't get me wrong, it's no GS-R integra in the bumpy corners, but it's much better behaved.
I'm sure it would. If I get to the point where the rear OEMs are just shot, then I'll make that swap. For now, given it's mission of running up and down the highway, it's not all that much of an issue. I'm at 76k miles now and rapidly climbing.
We owned a 2011 Forte SX hatch and I don't remember it behaving like the Elantra. It handled much better...though the ride was much stiffer.
Has Kia Hyundai fixed their deal breaker horrible lack of steering feel yet?

Switching to a tire with a speed rating higher than H rated helps with that more than anything.

A Q-ship is nothing but a sleeper. Q-car is what they call sleepers across the pond... for the reasons you've cited.
These days 201hp doesn't a sleeper or q-ship make, I'm afraid. Unless it's Miata weight.

I agree with the numb feeling of the steering. The steering feel can be greatly improved in the driver settings menu. The problem is that settings menu can sometimes be accessed by the driver, or only accessed with the dealer scan tool, or is not an option at all. I can't keep it straight. I just grab the scan tool and see if the option is there before wasting brain space trying to figure it out.
Just a FYI, Hyundai/Kia hired one of the BMW chassis guys about 2-3 years ago. That means we should be seeing Hyundai/Kias that have much improved chassis manners right about now.
