Hmmm. 8h drive from here. Yeah, I guess I would, but this corner of the world is pretty short of race tracks.
Is he going to build the hills and other terrain too?
That's a serious wack job with too much money. Sure wish I had too much money cause that'd be kinda fun. (the wack part goes without saying)
Speedway's been on a roll of late. Exact copy seems like it would be too expensive, but a big-ass track near Vegas? Yes please.
Mmmmmmm........ Some of those rollers and off camber corners with a little desert sand blown across?
FUGANAY !
I have a question. Why? Yeah the 'ring is awesome and is a benchmark in performance testing. But why produce a copy or imitation of the real thing. He should produce a 15 mile, crazy race track of his own; making the best use of the topographical features of where ever his gifted 8,000 acres is located.
No one will ever take a Vegas Ring's time to be equivilent to Germany's Ring. So then what's the point? Unless they get the elevation and climate to be the exact same as it is at the real track and also get ever bump, patch, spray paint artwork, and motorcyclist's gore in the same spots. It's useless.
But I'd still want to drive it, none the less.

Ahhhh! It made Keith swear! I'm in!

Hey, "big-ass" is a technical term.
Why an exact copy? Because Vegas. That's why there's a copy of Venice (sorta) and Paris (if you squint) as well as a piece of Egypt and a volcano and pirate ships and a castle...
Vegas isn't about being original. I'd rather see it be an original track simply because it would be more likely to happen, but if some billionaire falls for the 'Ring pitch that might make the difference.
Cool, so I'd only have to drive 2000 miles to run the ring, or less than half the distance I'd have to drive now to the real thing...
yeah. There are ALREADY some tracks in the area. (LVMS, Spring Mtn, a little school track outside LVMS, one or a dozen kart tracks . . . . .)
But that doesn't mean that there should NOT be MORE! Nevada is one place without a lot of neighbors to complain, and land is cheap. Heck, land might be free if one could convince the proper people they might make $$$$$ from the deal!
So: Yes, please. and more. and again!

Exactly. IMHO, there's a potentially good business model here. I have next to zero desire to visit Vegas... but something like this could change my mind. I'm sure part of the discussion will be about exanding the tourist draw to attract those of us with little interest in gambling.
jalopnik writes: So what you're saying is that I could be a four hour drive from the Nürburgring, and then moments from $4.99 lobster and the loosest slots in town? Yes, please.
Ummm, the loosest slots in town will be still be cheaper than a faux-ring DE. Comparing the fun-factor and safety aspects might make it a wash, though.
Running the "ring" on Saturday, hanging out at LVMS on Saturday night, and then tearing up Spring Mountain Ranch on Sunday...yeh, I'm in
If there is time for strip clubs, gambling, and gorging on buffets too, then when in rome...
Found this for sale as a new GRM Headquarters...

If I ever won the lottery (I'd have to play first), I've always wanted to build one of the F1 tracks, scaled down for karts......

I have crohns... "brown hell" is normal for me.
That said.. I wish AC would learn from Vegas

Last I heard, something like 30 EU per lap. ~ $40?
My guess is anything similar in the US would be a normal private track and fees would be hourly or per session. The 'Ring's odd rate is because it's technically a limited access public road.
Oddly enough, one of the more realistic comparisons to the 'Ring in the US would be if TN and NC set up toll-booths on each end of the Dragon (which probably wouldn't be a bad idea).
