Well dang I just went and did it. There is a new (to me at least) Mopar in my driveway.
We just brought home a 2007 Charger R/T. We traded off the old Taurus I was driving for work. Got a good deal with a second set of new tires thrown in. It has an after market exhaust that gives it a nice growl. Has a few cosmetic things but mechanically it is great.
I will write more and post some more pics later on.
Sharp. How does it drive?
It drives really nice considering it is on stud less snow tires at the moment and I couldn't goon around to much in it yet. My biggest problem is going to be keeping my foot out of it because it sounds wonderful.
Oh and I have been mistaken as a cop twice already. Pulled behind two different cars they each immediately changed their driving. One even pulled over to the side of the road lol.
But yeah once I get the new tires on expect a more in depth handling an ride review. It has been a lousy week so this was a nice thing to happen for us.
I needs a four door. Leaning blue oval, though.
Looks good for you. The black and tinted screams LEO.
You should drive the cop car version.....

My dad recently got rid of his 2010(?) R/T AWD Road and Track Pack.
I know exactly what you mean about the sound!
I have to make a day long road trip today and was originally goin to take the charger but forecast is calling for flood waters and mudslides along my route so the truck it is. Oh and when I get home I get to deal with a lawyer.
Oh apparently since this has the Benz transmission in it you can wire in the flappy paddles if you want. SWMBO says the car is really me however she says I have to let her drive it more than she drove the Taurus. Granted she hated driving the Taurus and basically only drove it if we were on a long trip and I needed a break.
Oh and as far as I have seen the only other Chargers in town are the cop cars. I don't think there are any civilian ones rolling around (small town).
On the cop car version I am almost thinking one of those could make for a fun base to start with for some future project car. Keep this one all sensible and have one of those to go nuts with and stiff be able to haul the kid around.
Anyway time to hit the road.
Very nice! Won't be too long til all the LEO driven P71's are gone and I'll have to memorize Charger headlights at night!

My dad said he talked to the cops (someone peeked in the windows at their house), the conversation quickly turned to the Charger in the garage. The cop was jealous because they had the V6 in theirs.

I drove the new gen R/T a couple weeks ago and really liked it, and you're right the sound they makes is
I just really wish they would stick the manual trans from the Challenger in there, its the one thing holding me back from considering a Charger.
They should have made the Charger and Challenger V8 cars with a 6 speed as an option. I imagine that they cost some buyers because of it.

Me. I would love one if it were a manual. The Challenger does come with a manual though...
Good buy! I have a 05 magnum RT and I love it. They make great snow tanks, and highway cruisers. The only things to be wary of are the front suspension, which like to wear out ball joints and knock until the driver goes crazy. The only other problem I had on my car was a dropped valve which is rare, but happens. The only mod that I have done to my car is add a diablo sport tuner, wakes up the throttle response a whole lot.
Yeah we got to test drive the Challenger with 6 Speed while we were there however with the baby on the way we really were limiting to a 4 door. If money hadn't been an issue they had a Road and Track pack '12 or a new 392 Super Bee.
So first day taking the new car to work and basically everyone wants a ride. When I fired I up to come home for lunch one of the guys came out to look at it saying he could hear it in the office. The only other vehicle at work in the Chargers class is a late 90's Camaro. I watched the owner of it walk into the office with his eyes never leaving the Charger.
I am thinking that I am going to try and find a set of the cop wheels to throw the snow tires on. Heck my local yard may have a set as they get the wrecked cruisers in there.
Dang it!.....opens up Craigslist

I am really falling in love with this car. I need to find one of the Diablo Predator tuners, maybe a take off SRT suspension and maybe a cold air intake.
One of the guys at worked crawled under the car and figured out it has the Mopar cat back exhaust that is giving it that much enjoyed rumble.
Nice Charger. Right color too. I've driven a couple but one hasn't followed me home yet. I've resisted driving a 6-speed Challenger. I don't want an itch I can't scratch right now.
I know at least one Charger out there has been swapped over to a 6-speed using wrecked Challenger bits. You can file that idea away for when the retired squad car follows you home.
Other than the already mentioned ball joints, keep an eye on the sway bar end links and take a look at the K-member bolts I don't think you guys use road salt out there, but I've known at least one Magnum that had a mystery clunk in the front. Turned out it was a broken K-member retaining bolt. It corroded.

I had a 2005 Magnum RT a while back. I loved that car! I put a JBA catback on it. I also bought a Diablosport Predator tuner for it. It was totally worth it. It made the transmission shift a lot crisper and the throttle response instant. It also turned the stupid torque management off, so it would launch like a Hemi should. The Predator has been superseded by the Diablosport inTune, which I bought for my Jeep. I still have the Predator actually. It's yours for the price of shipping . Also, look into a catch can for the PCV system as the Hemi like to ingest oil from the PCV. It's cheap insurance
In reply to stanger_missle:
Nice man thanks! Look for a PM.
Thanks for the tip on the catch can I will make that one of the immediate things to do.
Last night I was thinking about how much fun one would be with a 396 or Gen 3 426 Hemi and that 6 Speed transmission. I think the cop cars will become ideal for the base of heavily modified Chargers.

Ive been looking at 08 Magnums again recently. Too bad i am so picky about colors. There aren't many of them out there to begin with.
Ive driven and enjoyed an r/t charger. For me the wagon body style just makes the charger body style pretty irrelevant. Same with the Challenger. They are as good as a non-wagon Magnum CAN be, i guess..
Yeah like I said in the othe post if I was to buy a wagon it would be a Magnum. My mom is actually looking for one after riding in the Charger.
