Gotta love relatives with friends. Guy was gonna scrap it if he didn't sell it. I heard and jumped all over it. Has issues idling, going to take it over to my great uncles shop and hook it up to the diagnostic stuff he's got. Threw a 35 or a 34 when I did the engine light thing, but my vision is crap so I'm not certain which it is.
Oh yes. Paid for it Friday, went and drove the truck home today.
Drove nice and smooth, stalled a few times but started right up and stayed running as long as you kept it over 1100 RPM. Took a wrong turn and drove the berkeleyer over a median to get on the right road, took that like a champ in 2wd. Runs nicer down the road than my cousins 07 Colorado. Surprisingly no serious squeaks and rattles, tracked well, didn't pull. Front suspension was replaced, need to change the oil, AC seems to be overcharged and a bunch of other little E36 M3.
Gave it the beans going up a hill since it wanted to stall, ran up to 3 grand and it'll E36 M3 n' git.
Overall, damn good buy for 400 bucks, and you can't tell it's got 250k on it.

Made up most of what it cost given the fact that it came with a bit over a 1/4 tank of gas and a set of mostly new tires in the bed.

How in the name of trees do you people keep coming up with these incredible deals? And why don't I ever find them?
Oh, yeah, nice score - that thing looks very unrusty.

It's not too bad rust wise, and this is the second sub 500 dollar truck I've gotten my hands on.

5.2 then?
I've seen a lot of these develop vacuum leaks where the bottom plate of the intake manifold leaks. It's an easy fix once you get the intake manifold off. Quick diagnostic for it is to plug off the crankcase vent and PCV and stick a vacuum gauge on the dipstick tube.
ive seen lots of carbon buildup in the throttle do that as well

Idle actuator is what the code tells me, or speed sensor.
And yah, 318.
I want a pickup truck so bad and this irks me.
Thanks a lot Grizz.
Nice buy! People are willing to scrap the darnedest things.
my brother's 318 powered 99 Ram ran like that when the catalytic converter had busted apart internally and plugged the exhaust... we "fixed" it by cutting the pipe off after the converter and repeatedly jamming a chunk of rebar in there to bust it up and starting it up to blow the chunks out..

Well. it's running a little rich from the smell, but the exhaust flows good. I'm not sure, which is why I'm gonna get people to hook it up and look it over(and use their fancy ass tire machine to mount mah newish rubber)
amazing to buy vehicles for scrap prices
I was at the junk yard last summer when a guy drove in with a Land Rover and sold it for $600 scrap. I went back the next day and got the complete 4.0 engine for $250. When people decide they don't want something anymore, they fail to see the true monetary value. As a plumber, I see people throw away perfectly good kitchen cabinets, granite countertops, appliances, etc. just because they don't match the new decor. I was just on a job that the homeowner was throwing away everything on the first floor because of a remodel. The Brazilian carpenter/laborer took home an an entire apartment worth of carpet, and furniture.

I nearly got a low mile T66 that way, but the day before we could consider it abandoned, the guy called to see if we still had his old turbo.
OTOH, I do have a nice pile of used Walbro 255s and injectors that were left behind. Funny thing about people who don't work on their own cars, they just want to trade money for More Power and don't want any leftovers clogging their garage.

grab any hanging cabinets and put them up in your garage
