For those of you that have read an OBD2 code, there is a little issue with 2009/2010 TDIs that creates a Check Engine Light. When we check the codes we print out the data and it goes into the file. The information for this 2009/2010 Jetta issue is as follows:

00315 P013B 000 Bank1 Sensor2 Signal too slow when greasy sporadic

Am I wrong in thinking they could have written the fault a little clearer.

John, you need more sideways hat with tag still attached to understand VW codes.

probably bad interpretation from German to English.

"...too slow when greasy"

Aren't TDIs/diesel powered cars all kind of "greasy" under the hood?

After reading Per Schroeder's Busted Knuckles in this month's mag, I don't think I'll be buying another VAG product in a LOOOOONG time. (Not that I have the money, anyway.)

That happens where I work too. Those English to American translations can get mighty confusing

I left VW when many of the stealerships still retained specific hydralic lifts for the air cooled cars.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... hopefully I'll never have to work for them again!

the new TDI's also throw a code that reads "Nicht Gerfunden!" on our scanners. apparently that translates into an exhaust leak, as we were instructed to make a new exhaust gasket for them. This is the most common problem I've seen on them so far. Luckily this usually occurs within the first few thousand (or first few hundred) miles of driving the vehicle so it's taken care of under warranty.

did you try cleaning the grease off of it? Just thinking out loud.

Demon, the Nicht Gerfunden! code is the same code. Our 5051s translate it into Slow when greasy.

I would think the reason you love working at a VW dealership is the long term guarantee of employment... well at least repair work.

Yup, VWs are definitely good for keeping the bux flowing. But a year of dealing with the general overall adversarial attitude of VW towards their dealer service network coupled with the lack of tech support convinced me to NEVER work for/with them ever again.

We have a great FOM and the tech support has gotten scads better... They are still German so you can say they are a little gruff with us ignorant Americans.
