But that price? At $4k, I'd likely be pricing plane tickets out for this weekend. But $8k? Smoking crack.

My first car was a Brougham LS Caprice and will always have a special place in my heart, but I agree about the price. Unfortunately that seems to be the direction they're headed in around here.
Headliner is probably ~$250 installed at an upholstery shop. On an $8k car there's no excuse for not doing it before posting it for sale.
I have a friend with a very similar car. White over a burgundy velour interior And some sort of crate 350 that makes more power than the terrible tire can handle. I don't want one, but I want other people to have them so I can experience their awesomeness every now and again.
The 9C1's were so different than the non-police cars. We had a pair of them (89 and 91) and then drove a couple non cars and holy cow. No way I'd drive a standard Classic or Brougham.
I agree that the price is high, especially having suffered many Impalas in their prime, but how many box-body Impalas do you see out there anymore? Even the blob-body ones are pretty rare. (I realize those are not official body codes)

Quite a few actually. THere's a coupe in Tucson for $3k that looks good, but its sitting on 13" daytons.
EDIT: Hell, here's a running/driving one for $1150 from the land of no-rust. cheao and here's the coupe on daytons: coo-pay
Ooh, and a complete donor for $2k local: donor
Bob,
Not sure I actually want to see one of these fine automobiles on 13s, but FWIW your coo-pay link goes to your sedan ad.
Up here in the land of salt they are getting very thin on the ground, especially considering they sold so well around here back in the day.

two reasons I've been looking in the Phoenix/Tuscon areas. First, they don't rust there. Second, old people liked them.
I grew up around those. My father had several of them as company cars, and when the company retired them, he would buy them and my mom would drive them.
I've always had a soft spot for them, but a lot of them haven't aged well. The interiors have turned into dust and/or mush, and everything that is still on the road is either a nasty beater, a donk, or fixing to be a donk. They do command some decent prices for what they are. A decent one will set you back $5K, a junker will be $1500.

that right there is funny!
I sold a clean stock brougham caprice for close to 6k, so I don't think he's too far off. Nice examples of these cars aren't nearly as cheap as they used to be.
Most of them have suffered the same fate as crown vics around here, there either rusted into the ground or they got smashed in a derby.

Those thing had been Swiss cheese 15 years ago in my area.
