Is it just an optical illusion that it looks like your rear track width is larger than front track width?

I don't have the numbers in front of me, but IIRC the rear track is very very close to NA Miata. The axle is slightly narrower but IIRC there was something about the drive flanges that cost me an inch or so. The front is exactly the same as NA Miata.
So I'm gonna go with optical illusion.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
Fair enough, I think this version looks much better tho, th frames and the wheels fill the openings much better. Looks less redneck :D

While i'm all for bigger wheels and tires, I have to say I quite like how the fenders look as is.
I feel the same way. I think the look is just right. The trick would be not to screw it up.
I'm still thinking about what to do, I want to get it right the first time. I've been working on the final touches of the Targa Miata and I was out of town on a TV shoot so it's been busy. The only time pressure on the MG is that it needs new tires, so there's no point in buying 14s if I'm going to change things up.
The bronze wheels I posted a couple of weeks ago are 15x9 with 225/45-15. I'd probably use a 15x8 with that tire size or a 15x9 with 245. The latter would probably only work on the rear. I'd have to find a wheel that looked right, though.
OR I carry through with my ideas for a ridiculous brake setup for the Targa Miata...
15" is the ideal size for the MG body - the MGC (which had 15") looked better than the MGB in side view and the range of available rubber is wider.
OTOH, you are shooting for a pretty wide tire and will want to limit rolling radius, so there is that. A useful tool is the BritishV8 site as they have pics of many converted MGBs along with specs. You might try finding a car that has approximately the look you are going for and emulate the tire/wheel choice.
This one does the 1/4 in the 10s and uses 14" front and 15" rears

I like this better (no idea why the images won't post as pics)
My car is more Miata than MG in the wheel department and I am surrounded by Miata wheels, so it's been pretty easy to bolt various things on.
15" is a given.
Tire width is based on commonly used Miata sizes, although I am considering going slightly taller in rolling diameter. My wheel openings have been heavily reshaped compared to a stock B, so what works on a stock or Sebring body isn't necessarily right on mine.
The 4x100 bolt pattern does limit my options somewhat compared to 4x4.5 or 5x4.5, but luckily I'm quite familiar with the range of options available to me in both wheel and tires :)
