BangShift was at the latest King of the Heap race at NCM this past weekend and shared some of the stupidity from my team.
This year we are in a 2000 Lincoln LS (stock, gutted, exhaust cut off at the axle). The first event was fun, but the lack of an LSD was apparent. So for this event we welded the diff and added an obnoxiously long extension to the factory ebrake handle. The results were glorious.
I’m in the car at the 5:30 mark.
What kind of race is it? Time trial??

Its a 4 person team event with low buck crap cans on spec tires, which are Uniroyal TigerPaws. 4 separate segments including lap time around NCM’s east course, 1/8th mile drag race, autocross, and relay autocross (all 4 drivers make a lap and swap drivers while the clock is still running). Only one driver can post a time for each segment and no driver can post more than one time, so the entire team has to drive well to be competitive. That said, we didn’t give two E36 M3s about being competitive and just wanted to sling the Lincoln around and make good video.
I was like, "ummm, is this a drift event? 'cause those other cars didn't get the memo..." Good stuff.
What was that that flew through the cabin at the 6:20ish mark? Looked like a wad of paper. Angry corner workers?
Hilarious; I love it! I had Tiger Paws on my GS430 when I bought it, they were terrible for a reasonably powerful RWD heavy car. Looks great on you though.
I've often thought a Lincoln LS would make a great crapcan race car.

Random trash. The track is alongside the interstate so there is a lot of trash that ends up making it on course in a couple of sections.
And no angry workers, I got several high fives from them afterwards lol

Man, that looks like way too much fun. You guys gotta see if Riverside Drift will let this thing in for single runs this year. If they're cool with it, grab a bunch of cheap used tires and have a blast!

We talked about it at the event. I’ll definitely look into it if the car survives this season of KOTH.
