Tire Rack - Need F350 tires

The last set of tires I got for the truck were from Les Schwab. I am not that happy with how long they didn't last. The truck is an 2001 crew cab.

So I need advice from the might GRM world.....so tires would you get?

Michelin XPS are the best tires I have had on my hauler. Quiet and last very long. Worth the extra $$$ in my mind.

firestone transforce HT

don't consider a tire that isnt a load range E. i personally have some generals on my dually from when they still made tires in the USA. the first set of rears gave me 7 years of pulling 3,000# trailer most days(about 40k). the second set is going on this spring, i had them on my dump truck for the same amount of time but for only 2k miles so they still look new. they were a closeout at the time. if i had to buy new tires now for the truck i would puke.

I have BF Goodrich Rugged Terrain T/As on my F250 diesel and I'm very happy with them. Lots of grip in snow and mud and not too loud on the highway. Seem to wearing well on top of it all.

No clue how much they are new, they were on the truck when I bought it.

Another vote for the Michelins. It's what I've had on my last two.

My dad has a 2000 F350 CC LB 4WD 7.3. Monster of a truck. He had General Grabbers (E range) on it and was very impressed. They wouldn't give him the 50k treadwear warranty due to it being a diesel but he got nearly 50k out of them pulling their 35ft 5th wheel anyway.

I was not aware they stopped making them in the US

the grabbers i have were discontinued. they might have a similar tire now but no idea where it's made. could still be here. i've been having a hard time finding USA made tires locally, all the independent shops are carrying nan-kang or wang-chung or whatever the chinese brands that they claim are just as good are.

I have had Continental's on my 2000 Expedition for 3 years and they still look new after about 30K

i get 50k out my BFG A/T 315-70-17 in my Dodge 5.9 2500 (twice now)

mine had michelins on it stock, they made it 40k.

I've got Michelin LTX's on my 3/4 ton. They're 2 years old. Truck is a part time daily and pulls our travel trailer. The Michelins are quiet and wearing like iron. Worth the $$$ IMO.

I was faced with the same decision last year for my 2002 F250 which I use primarily to tow my Spec Miata to the track about 7k miles a year here in CA. I wound up getting the Firestone Transforce HT in load range E (highway tire not all terrain).

I had considered both the Michelins and the Generals but wound up with the Firestones due to price, perceived performance, good reviews on Tire Rack and availability (lots of Firestone dealers around in case I have a blow out while on the road towing). For my use, I couldn't justify the cost of the Michelins and Generals didn't seem as available as the Firestones. I think they are good tires for my uses. I have driven the truck in lots of rain and the tires felt great in the rain providing good control. I have not driven in the snow so no feedback there.

I wound up getting them from the local Big O Tire for the same price as Tire Rack. Also wound up having them align the truck which they did a good job on.

Can't recommend on tires, but I stopped going to Les Schwab years ago. I won't recommend Les Schwab to my worst enemy.

The Michelin LTX MS2 I put on my RAM 2500 have been great. They are available in load range E for most sizes, suitable for 3/4 ton pickups too.

Maxis or Hercules. I've had 4 set of Hercules and never had a problem or wear issue thay even lasted on my 65 Ford with Twin I beam. When my Conti's on the f350 wear out i'll be putting them on it.

Thanks everyone for you thoughts. I bought tires for Les Schwab but the Toyos I have on the truck now haven't lasted very long.

Time to pull out the wallet.....
