While browsing craigslist, I came across this:

http://sheboygan.craigslist.org/pts/3554946137.html

I emailed the seller, and story is they brought another car in for scrap and accidentally used the title for this car. And Wisconsin does not allow vehicles that have been junked to be titled, only salvaged vehicles can be titled after an inspection.

Here in the rust belt, that is a bargain for a Subaru Impreza coupe. And if that's the original front grille, it has the option package that includes rear disk brakes. But is it going to be more work than it's worth to get a title?

Check with your DMV or Department of Revenue. Here in Missouri its very hard to do something like that. Some people talk about having done it, but I've looked at it, talked to State here (was looking to do it years ago myself), and it may be possible but certainly adds to the cost in both real cost and time. If the present owner is willing to cooperate, it might help a lot, like getting title as a tow lot or resulting from a mechanic's lien.

i'd offer scrap price on it since they boned up, then figure out how to title it later or use it as a racecar.

This looks like a possibility:

Just need to swap the engine, transmission, and wheels and have a friend in Michigan title it.

You'll need to log in to post.
