Civic 4wd wagon? Sidekick/Tracker?

Tiny, tiny awd is kinda tough. The Sidekick/Tracker twins are fairly small and still have axles that can handle some abuse. Civic awd is small, but the axles are iffy. Toyota awd rigs vary so much in size that you might be able to get some stout axles for a small rig, by cannibalizing a larger one.

If the axles are the weak link...and I think they will be...find the strongest, smallest pair you can, and adapt them for a small car. Otherwise you end up with huge money spent on axles that might better be spent on the car as a whole.

Beyond that, I think you're on to something, asking for advice on a 'top-secret project' on this forum. I'm sure we'll all keep this close to the vest...or maybe not...

Yeah, I know. I envisioned about 85 wb, 1400#, 250-300 hp and ready-for-action cg height of about 14, about 40 back. What would stand up to that? And then add going around cones very quickly AND doing a dragrace too. Just to make things fun, you understand.

AMC Eagle SX/4 man!

97" wheelbase and ~2500Lbs. If you take out the stupid-heavy AMC motor you can probably get under 2000. There wasn't much steel to these cars, it's all in the drivetrain. As a bonus, anything short of blown big-block won't even phase the axles.

I'll second a justy or a brat. Seems as though 1400lbs wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility.

600 lbs of motor and trans makes 1400# hard. But still thinking sub 2k with a 200lb driver.

I like the idea and think it would be great under the N600 shell I got for free, but this time I want whatever chassis we start with to maintain its stock suspension and hubs.

CRX with the rear suspension members from an AWD Civic Wagon. I bet you'd still be able to hit your weight with that, and with the exception of the Civic Wagon parts, you can get a lot of ricer cast offs.
