Now that I've finally resolved the vibration issue on my 128i, I can turn my attention to other, smaller problems. First up is fixing a number of small chips in the paint, and possibly addressing the general road rash on the lower airdam and right behind the wheels. I know of two basic options: factory touch-up paint, applicators, and a fiberglass pen to clean out the chips, then wet sand and polish, or use Dr. Colorchip. I've done the former, and I know I can good results with the small chips, but it's tedious, and it will not work on the rough lower areas. I have no experience with Dr. Colorchip, but it's been around for quite a while, and I've seen some positive reviews. What does the hive prefer here? Cost ends up being pretty close for either option (due to the $30 BMW two-part paint kit), so it's not really a factor.

I was in the same boat with my 2012 cls. I ended up finding the OE paint on Amazon for not much more than the other"good as the OE paint" suppliers.  It matches perfectly got rid of the small chips and made it back in to a decent 10 footer.

Oh on the OE paint I am sure is no where close to meeting current VOC regs. "Use in a well ventilated area" is an understatement!!!!

Yeah, I would definitely get the OE paint if I go that route. I've done it on other cars and I see no reason to get an aftermarket equivalent for the same amount of work. The Dr. Colorchip system seems to be totally different, however, and much easier to use. I'm not after perfection, just improvement.

i've used both on my BMWs and SWMBO's former PTGT.   I slightly prefer the OE paint plus Langka.

Dr. Colorchip seems to match really well.  Think I'm on my 5th car I have ordered the small touch up paint for to handle daily rock chips.

I just ordered a kit from TouchUp RX but haven't used it yet. I saw their ad in Roundel. Evidently the guy who started it was a founder at Dr. Colorchip and has started a new venture.

Had to look up Langka and TouchUp RX - both look like promising options, both similar in process to Dr. Colorchip. There's an appeal to the TouchUp RX being a simple kit with everything necessary, and it's a bit cheaper than the other options as well. Wet sanding and polishing is looking less and less appealing.

I was very happy with my paint from automotivetouchup.com

I used a rattle can but they do everything from paint pens to gallons.
