Sounds like a nasty hit. Make sure everyone does what the docs say, and heal up for real!
Weird thing..I've been riding around with SHMBO and her son a lot these days, and I've been thinking about picking up something a little larger. A Legacy wagon caught my interest on the street tonight (before I got home and saw the thread). You've certainly sold me..
Glad you and the fam weren't injured worse. Heal up well and let us know what Subaru you pick up next! (we have two in the garage!)

Glad to hear that you are OK.
Now let me be the first to say that you sir have found the first instance of Miata not being the answer.

I'm sorry to hear what happened, sorry to hear that not everyone involved in the incident survived, and happy to hear that you and especially your kids are ok.
I was sad to have to move up to a newer car last summer, but reading this has made me thankful that in the event of a collision, I will at least have airbags.

God DAMN. While your injuries suck, I'm thrilled that you are around to be typing this. I am just as thrilled that your family is OK. That is some terrifying worst case scenario stuff.
This is why a good crash rating is high atop the list of priorities on my wife's next car.
May you all have speedy recoveries. I hope you have some good pain meds for a week or so. Glad you're all still with us.
Sorry to hear that, but at least you and your family are still with us. Speedy recovery to all of you!

Dayum! Wishing the Stroker family a speedy recovery. I must admit, I had never really considered a Forester before I met my wife. She convinced me to buy ours ('04) and think it's an awesome car. However, I may leave it parked for a while until things settle down a bit.
wow...glad your ok...
subies are unbelievably strong cars. a buddy was pinned between two semis in his 2.5 RS, and he walked away in perfect shape. JAMBED between two of the highway monsters, and no problems.

Glad to hear that you faired so well. Having a 21 month old and a 3 month old myself I'm sure your first concern was your kids.
I'm sure you already know this so it's just a friendly reminder, kids car seats are like motorcycle helmets. Now that they've been involved in an accident buy new ones.
Thank you for having your kids properly restrained. You would be amazed how often I still see kids, even really little ones, walking around in the back seat.

State law. I will never, ever, question proper restraints again. My dad never would wear belts. I don't think it would have made any difference but the other driver wasn't belted.
Sheesh!!! Glad you and fam is ok!!
Speedy recovery to you and the fam.
sorry to hear about the driver of the truck. Any death is a sad thing, no matter how we may joke about it. Witnessing and being a part of somebody's death just leaves a stain on your soul you cannot wash out. I unfortunately know this all too well.
I wish you all a speedy recovery. Your accidently could have been a far worse tragedy than it was.
how about some pics of how the forester saved your life?

Wishing you and your family a speedy recovery. Working in a hospital for the last 10 years, it's amazing how people can be so fragile and at the same time stunningly resilient and tough. Glad your family was on the resilient side of the equation.

Ugh. That's a nasty way to start a weekend. Glad to hear that everyone is relatively OK.
Not to harp on it too hard, but this would be a good time to find an attorney, if you don't already have one. If you let us know what city you're in, someone might be able to recommend a good one.

I agree with Alex. You have been through a very traumatic experience through no fault of your own. You and your family have been injured, your car destroyed. Yeah, lawyer up, and hope the other guy had insurance. Around here, SoFla, that can never be assumed.

Glad to hear your all okay.

Stroker, sorry to read of your accident. I know it's been said before, but a car can be replaced...thank goodness you and your family are all in (relatively) one piece. Godspeed and speedy recovery to all.
