Yes, we don’t get the GR Yaris here in the states, but that doesn’t mean we still can’t get excited about Toyota teasing the possibility of an even faster Yaris.
Toyota Gazoo Racing announced today that it will exhibit at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon, scheduled for January 14-16.

The GR Yaris is rated at 270 hp and HKS has tuned one to 475 hp, so 300 with a warranty is believable.
The GT3 looks interesting, will it be based on a model that isn't sold overseas?
If the GT has the IS500 heart, I'll be a fan. And I'd already take a stock Yaris GR over a WRX. There are some subtle items, lower valance, that suggest a tarmac focused variant.
GT looks kind of like the Mazda Vision Coupe concept from a few years ago with a big wing tacked on.
I would still do financially irresponsible things to get a GR Yaris.

Ask them about the GR Corolla. I keep hearing mixed bags on what we will actually get over here. Even the teaser shots from Toyota have mixed signals.

A road-racing variant Yaris seems like a great idea but they don't have enough doors to meet TCR regs, which still require 4 doors I believe?
There's been at least 2 that have set tire upon American soil.
Couple months back Doug Demuro was loaned one for review from Mexico where the owner drove across the border.
The other is this video posted early December, dunno the story behind it?
First thing I'd do is get a proper exhaust if I owned one, cannot abide that artificial sound.

It's a regular Corolla with some plastic skirts, and red/silver/white backsplash on the infotainment screen, is my guess.

I'm getting Mercedes AMG GT3 vibes from this, and I like that car too. Since GT3 is going to replace the GTE class at Le Mans, maybe Toyota will compete in 2 classes at the 24?

It's supposed to get the Yaris GR turbo powerplant and AWD system. I just hope it doesn't gain 500 lbs over the Yaris. That would definitely spoil the party. I think 250lbs would be acceptable.
