You've seen how those arctic guys inflate tires, right?

It's hot.

Old head at the garage we always went to when I was a kid used to do that for everything. Especially impressive on a 5 foot tall tractor tire on a split rim

What are those dealies hanging off the front that look like tow bars? They look important.

IIRC, if the front wheels drop into a cravass(sp?) (deep but narrow gap in the ice), they are design to catch the other side of the gap and keep the truck from falling all the way the in. Snow and thin ice can obscure these gaps when you are driving across the ice cap.

That's pretty awesome. They look bad @$$ with those monster snow tires on there

That's just like how the local off roading club reseats a tire.

It looks like they used the same wheel / tire on the trailers that they used on the truck. Would make a pretty handy set of spares in a pinch

Looks like they brought spares, too.

Is the cooler to keep it warm or to keep it from freezing?

Those trucks remind me of an old magazine feature from one of the C&R-R&T-MT rags on exploration rigs in Reykjavik.

I heard they run single digit tire pressure in those things.

They're commonly known as Stingers. Used to minimize front end damage in event of a rollover. Go to a rock crawling competition sometime, and you'll likely see them on a lot of vehicles.
