Went to the junkyard this morning think tha after striking out all morning I stumbled upon a gem.
I was hunting for a spare tire for the junk MR2, as the wheel is DESTROYED, and went to open the hatch on a TC
I saw a little TRD badge on the back : TRD Release Edition. Then inside there was a plate on the dash, 17xx/2000.
It had a TRD exhaust and TRD rear sway bar with two holes per side.
I THINK it may have had different suspension, as it was red springs.
Is this something special?
I took the bar and muffler
But wasnt familiar with a TRD edition Scion TC
There were Release Edition Scion TC. I know they were numbered, my daughter got a new one 2012. think there were Release Edition FRS. I've never heard of a TRD Release Edition.

I'm finding "Release Edition" is the first 2000 of each model year while "TRD Edition" is a dealer package.
In reply to buzzboy :
Who would ever name a car "TuRD Edition"?
In Scion's early years, each model had a Release Series annually, typically with a unique paint color, lip kit, and some interior trim. The 2009 Release Series tC was the "TRD edition", which had some red suspension bits, wheels, and a muffler. I think that may have been the only release series to have any kind of performance parts. The parts were from the TRD catalog, which was quite extensive for the tC. I recall there being a supercharger and LSD that you could order through the dealership with warranty and all.

thavelka nailed it.
I don't have experience with the tC, but the TRD parts catalog was really impressive for many years. I had tons of TRD parts on several of my AE86 projects: springs, shocks, firm versions of every suspension bushing, firm motor and transmission mounts, camshafts, valve springs, limited-slip differentials, short final drives, brake pads, headers, plug wires, FRP body panels, lexan windows, and more. There was a time when TRD would sell you everything needed to go touring car racing, or build a competitive rally car.
I also had a 2006 Matrix for a while that was my daily, so I couldn't go too nuts, but it still had TRD chassis braces, sway bars, springs, air filter, exhaust, and incredibly-lightweight fully-forged alloy wheels. It was really fun to drive for a FWD economy wagon.
My current 2013 FR-S has a few TRD parts I've installed as well that are all performance-minded OEM+ type parts, except the "aero" part that covers the gap between the rear window and the trunk lid. I'm sure it doesn't hurt aerodynamic efficiency, but it probably does more for looks and keeping leaves and other debris out of the channel around the trunk opening.
I'm not sure what the TRD tC parts are worth, but they could be a nice upgrade for someone with a dual-purpose car.
I always thought those Scion special series cars were neat, especially now that Scion is no more.
Sure, it was cosmetic stuff for most of them, but they still catch my attention when I see one on the road.
My favorite Scion Release Series:

The xB Release Editions were cool, always a special color. A non-car friend ended up with one just because she wanted a red xB. She came to a get-together of my Scion friends and they drooled over her car for 30min with all the accessories, leather interior, etc.
One year late in the 2nd gen had a special grill that had SCION in big letters. One friend worked at a dealership & used the VIN from a car to order one for his regular xB.
