What Triumph saloons were available in the US? And if you were going to get one which would it be?
there's a guy that autocrosses a RHD Triumph Dolemite Sprint with our bmw club. its great, but being rhd it probably was grey market so not sure if they were here.
The Triumph 2000 was sold here for sure. Neat car with a straight six. Can't be too many around anymore. A friend of mine used to have one and quite liked it - wasn't the fastest car ever though.
And just about any Triumph saloon is going to be old enough that you can import one without too much paperwork hassle....
The folks over on the Classic Motorsports message board would eat this up.
I know, I know...it should be easier to go from one site to the other. Big plans are afoot, and I promise this is among them.
Yeah, Triumph Herald was imported. It uses the same 6 cylinder as the TR6 so mechanical parts are easy to find and plenty of options for increased power exist. Not too sure about sheet metal parts availability though. (all of them will be over 25 years old and bound to have issues)
There was also a killer Dolomite Sprint featured in a recent issue of CMS. (Sept. 2010)
Super cool car, with a 16v four cyl. Subscribe to both GRM and CMS and you get the best of both worlds!

The Herald was four cylinder powered and shared a lot with the Spitfire. The Vitesse was the six cylinder version. Had a 2.0L inline six, same as the 2000 and smaller version of the TR6 motor.

Is that the same 6 that was in the GT6 then?
You won't find many Triumph saloons over here. The ones that made it have probably rusted into oblivion. I did see a 2000 for sale a while back that was in excellent conditon for a what I thought was a great price.
The Dolomite Sprint was never imported. Any here will be grey market or made up with Sprint parts on a regular Dolomite. Now that I think of it, I'm not sure the regular Dolomite was ever imported.
There area few mundane Standard models that could be considered a Triumph. A friend once had a Standard Ten he would have given me. It had rust on the rust.
I love the Triumph Reknown. Bigger and much more elegant than the Mayflower.

Saw that car compete at Road Atlanta many times in the 70's. Ric Cline bought it from the TransAm team, painted it a nice shade of orange and terrorized the competition.

It sure looks like it. Early accord?

3rd gen Civic sedan. The Acclaim has a bit more angular styling than the Civic version, but both could be fun project cars.

If you guys got the 2000, you probably also got the 2500?
I want an estate version.
Injected engine and over-drive, please! On Minilites.
