So, I picked up a 78k mile D200 crew cab on a whim a couple years ago when I was visiting Portland.  It is incredibly cool, loaded with the 440, Prospector and Adventurer packages, AM/FM/8-track, A/C, CC, bedside box, etc, and I enjoyed daily driving It for a while in nice weather, towed with it locally a bit, and then...  I parked it.

 

Here's the the problem- I don't really need it. I have other interesting things to drive, and two Cummins first gen crew cab projects that can serve my HD cross country towing needs, once I get them done. 

 

I tried putting it up for sale or trafe a while ago, but got tired of flakes, scammers, lowballers, and other time-wasters. I thought about eBaying it, but I let that window pass, and my best chance for a decent return wouldn't be until spring.  I hate the idea of it just being fodder for another coal rolling diesel swap. This one is too nice to have a stack shoved through the bed, or worse, the hood.  

 

So, I thought I might as well make it cooler for me to drive around. I have some slotted wheels to pit on it. And will lower it. A little, as in this photoshop I did a while ago, perhaps. 

 

 

But I may just go a bit further and bag it.  Keeping most everything else stock, especially the body and interior. I really like the look of slammed stock vehicles lately, and have seen some really cool looking "tin grille" Dodges lately. 

 

So what would you do?  This obviously not a poll, nor am I asking what I should do, but I'm curious what GRM would do if they had an extra rust-free crew cab that didn't fill a particular need anymore, but they still love the truck.

Bags. As low as possible without cutting the body.

Efi the big block.

Upgrade stereo and air conditioning. 

Add cruise and good stereo.

15 inch steelies with dog dishes, painted the brown of the center of the body. 

Lightly tinted windows.

That’s a really nice truck, I think you’re plan of nice wheels, mild lowering is a good one. Maybe add an overdrive.  Otherwise I like that truck the way it is.

If you decide you want it to go away, and want an e39 wagon or really slammed gmt400, keep me in mind. This thing gives me wood.

I think almost everything looks better lowered. So I would lower it but step up to 17-18 inch wheels

A very nice rig you got there.  I might just put the slots on it , and land some planes on the deck.

Listen to this man. Although a truck that large could definitely handle something larger than 15's without looking like a donk. I'd be looking for 18 or 20 inch white or color matched steelies.

Well, except tinted windows. I'm not a big fan of tinted windows these days.

It already has working cruise control. And the A/C is the legendary RV2 unit that can frost the windows. I really should tint them, however. 

I already have the slots, and 15s are tough to fit on the 8 lug setup. If I have trouble with finding tires for the 16.5 wheels, 17" 8 lug slots are now available. I can see police rallys and dog dishes on my '78 D100, but they just don't seem right on this huge train engine, let alone worth swapping a rear end and spindles. 

But the EFI is a pretty good idea if the Thermoquad ever starts giving me trouble. 

I'll probably modify the stock stereo to take external tunes, and upgrade with an amp and speakers. 

 

Great ideas.  Let me cover a few more...

The od is an excellent idea. I've modified an A-518 with a JW Ultrabell before to fit a big block, and that would certainly make this a better candidate for long distance cruising.

I will keep you in mind, however, there are only a few trades that would make me let go of it. Most of them are MoPar or factory truck/car types of vehicles.

That's pretty much how I feel about lowering these days. I'm putting 20s on my 87 Ramcharger, however, and 17" Charger Steelers wheels on my Tan Panther '89 Ford Crown Vic wagon, so I kinda want to use slots or a set of turbine mags I have stockpiled for an updated, yet vintage look.

Unfortunately, the vehicles that I mentioned as being better tow pig candidates are both duallys already. And one is a Cummins, while the other was bought mid-conversion into a Cummins. 

Plus, you have to hack the heck out of a bed to fit the dually fenders, they don't play well with drops that low, and they look pretty silly on "tin grille" era Dodges. 

 

If I do slam the white mega crew, I will likely use Chevy Box era dually rears like the ones that had to be used on the two tone rig in your post.

To everyone else, I never listed it here. Never thought anyone here would be interested, to tell the truth. 

I had it at $6k, IIRC. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere in the country, except for the fact it will get 10 1/2 MpG, empty and 10 pulling a trailer. 

 

Not sure how well it would play on BaT, but I've thought about it. I've read the threads here and reviews are mixed.
