Congrats!  May your BMW experience be better than mine and I wish you many miles of top-down motoring... not your top, the car's top, well you know what I mean.

Thanks! I'm still pretty happy with the purchase (I tend to second-guess things a LOT, but driving the car in to work this morning was still a whole load of fun even just on my commute).

Main things that need to be worked out are replacing the tires (they're really dry-rotted) and getting the cracked windshield replaced. In practical terms, the windshield is the less critical as the crack doesn't interfere with the driver's visibility at all but it's something the Dancer will likely not be very happy about. Doing some research to figure out the best way to address the tires... on one hand the outright cheapest would likely be to find and grab a better set along with a spare set of wheels off a car from a junkyard, but getting a new set has the distinct advantage of coming with a road hazard warranty in case anything happens to them.

Cool!  Regarding the tires, feel free to check CL and FB up here if you need me to pick up and store a set of wheels/tires for a little bit.

I think I'd go with cheap new tires sooner than searching for used not-so-cheap tires.

I have a set of 19" wheels I'd give you for free, but I'm on opposite side of the country, but they are yours for the price of shipping if you're interested.

I'll also have some 17" wheels once I get them swapped out on the 924 (yes it has BMW wheels on it, I have adapters) that I can offer up for a later date.

That said, for the time being, some cheap tires that aren't ready to disintegrate would make a lot more sense and you can always move them on later, use them as spares, etc.

I've got a few options nearby for another set of wheels that have decent tires on them. May not end up with the offset that the Sport Package this thing apparently has on it came with, but not entirely too worried about that at the moment. If I can get another set of wheels w/tires that will last for another year or so for ~$200 I'll likely go with vs. $500 or so for just a new set of tires.

The junkyards up in/near Cinci have a plethora of E46's including at least one 330Ci so if something nearby doesn't work out I may use my day off Friday to run up there with the Infiniti and see what I can find. From the place with the 330Ci (UP&P) it would be ~$250 for a full set of wheels & tires.

It's a pity I can't easily pull a windshield...

Anybody can pull a windshield easily!

(Gluing it back together after you crack it is the hard part)

The last time I successfully did it (on the RX-7 parts car) I cheated and cut the whole surrounding metal out.
