I'm at a loss here. I had bought 1/4 brake line thinking that's what I needed, but turns out I needed 1/8 inch line. The fitting i'm looking for is an adapter that goes from 1/4 inch female to 1/8 inch male. I was able to find this fitting, however I can not find any with male 1/8 threads that will thread into the fitting on the axle. The axle is an 8.8 out of a late 80's foxbody, and the fitting i'm trying to use is the rubber line going back to the differential.

Are there any foxbody gurus here that know what fitting that is? I've looked online and checked all the local auto part stores and can't seem to find what I need.

Thanks!

I'm at a loss, but have a hard time imagining that anything for that vehicle is hard to find.

Unless what's going on is that you're trying to adapt a really common set of parts to use the wrong size brake line... In which case I suggest that going back for 1/8" line might be the easy way...

I believe you are meaning 3/16" line, like every domestic vehicle ever had on fhe rear axle?

That's probably why you are having issue finding fitting

I just put an 8.8 into a foxbody not too long ago and don't remember this particular problem.

To clarify, I'm pretty sure you mean 3/16" (as opposed to 1/8").

OH!...now I remember what you're talking about. You need the "Tube Nut" (that's what I call it) that fits a 3/16" hard line (that's the ID part of the nut) and the male threaded portion is like a 1/4" hard line would have. Yeah...I can get you a part number tomorrow when I'm at work. I'll send myself an email now to remind me.

I'm pretty sure I reused an old fitting when I ran into this...but I'm also pretty sure it's an Edelman part that you should be able to find without too much trouble once you know the number. I'll let you know what I come up with.

Thanks guys.

I had found a fitting that adapted from the 1/4 line to the fittings on the zephyr, but the same adapter would not work for the 8.8 fitting. I was thinking it was 1/8 but maybe i'm just mistaken and it's actually 3/16th

Could be a metric fitting on a 3/16 line, not sure when ford went away from SAE brake fittings. My 94 cougar had metric ones.

Something like this:

You would need to figure out the thread sizes, the one shown is 3/8-24 male and 7/16-20.

I'd wager you need something metric threaded.

Not a great picture, but this is the fitting that i'm trying to figure out the threads for.

Standard 3/8-24 thread double flare as far as I can tell, thread that small means it's definitely 3/16 line. The only gotcha on ford axles is one side of the junction block is a 7/16-24 thread instead of 3/8 for some unknown reason, presumably assembly related.

This is a set of fittings that Edelman offers and we have one on the shelf (so it's easy for me to put eyes and hands on). I think it's possible this is the one you might need. Check out out 121039.

Far right, second from the bottom:

Here's the actual fitting in question:

It's also possible that it's the second from left on the top row...121034.

Thanks for the help everybody, turns out I just had to find the right size of fitting. Found an edelman fitting the went down to 3/16th and it worked for me.

Thanks!

Cool! Glad you found it.

I'm totally interested in project updates. I am also a non-Mustang fox enthusiast (as well as a Mustang fox enthusiast).
