I semi recently had my yaris trans rebuilt (had a noisy output bearing) and I sure as shot was not going to not upgrade with an LSD while its apart.

In went a TRD 1.5way clutch type unit.  Along with motul gear 300 (as per recommended by my good friend and fellow track buddy).  He mentioned if its chattery I may need to mix in some motul LSD type fluid.

Ive heard this before, but Im curious if any of you had experiences with this.

My LSD is so aggressive it actually is very unnerving to drive as with my alignment and electric PS probably amplifying this, when coming off center or returning to it nearly jerks the wheel out of my hands.  And it lurches at parking lot speed turning and makes noises.

My only previous FWD lsd experience is my tercel(s) with a Helical LSD unit that drives like normal just with traction lol.

So do I sound like a proper candidate for the LSD type fluid?

I have no direct experience with a clutch type LSD in any fwd, but it sure seems like an LSD additive might help in your case.

All of Fords LSD used in the rear axles used clutches and sometimes they would stick so they came out with an additive to cure this. I've never used it as I like the sticky diff but that's me. It was/is called: "Motorcraft Additive Friction Modifier".

It's available from most any outlet that sells Motorcraft parts. Amazon sells it.

Figure under $15 delivered.

Yes, there is an additive available to help eliminate clutch chatter.   Not just Fords

Hondas have a special fluid for their LSD.

Anything with a clutch LSD this is common, watch adding too much as it can also impede the syncros from doing their job.

I got some LSD additive locally and put in about an ounce and already notice a slight improvement.  Ill rock it for a day and add more as necessary.

Thanks guys, say all my my LSD experience is Helical, so dealing with a clutch type is new to me

Well, i think there is a reason clutch type is rare in FWD and helicals aren't... but im glad the additive is helping cuz that's a hell of a mod in both time and money to not be thrilled with. I'd probably put more ounces in!

I have more money into my yaris transmission then I really dont care to admit.  I could of bought several cars.

But since I owned it since new and I just love the thing.  I still trying to carry out my long term plans.
