I know Z3 coupes are rare and this is a clean example but 14,000 for a 2.8? Are they really going for this much?
Guess I won't be owning a Z3M Coupe any time soon...

That's not expensive for what it is. This is why I don't own one either, even though I lust after them.
Cheaper side? Wow. Is this California pricing only... or is it like this everywhere else in the US?
I would actually be more than willing to drive a bit to find one.
Yep,

I just died a little inside...
Actually, make that A LOT. I guess it's only fair though. Z3M coupes are arguably some of the most aesthetically pleasing cars on the road right now.
and they were the last BMWs to be considered "widow makers" All that power with a trailing arm suspension could be quite the handful.
Try to find the last year.. those came with the S54 from the E46M3 with 330ish HP
There is one locally in the Detroit area, a Z3 2.8 with 98k miles. I texted on it, the guy was asking $12k but if he still has it I bet he'd take less. So they're out there, but about $10k is the least you'll ever see. I love those cars. Someday...
We were talking about future classics in an earlier thread. I'm not suggesting the Z3 coupe will necessarily become one, it may be too odd looking. But the Z8? Definitely.
oh god. thanks for reigniting my lust, I had tempered it down to just an s2000, but how am I gonna live with this kia now, after seeing all that wonderful m coupe styling?
also, I didn't know they made z3 coupes that weren't M powered. hmm
I remember, a few years ago, when the economic meltdown was in full swing (guessing 2009?) and I saw one of these on a used car "wholesaler's" lot. The mileage wasn't too bad, and the price? Just UNDER $12,000. About a year later, prices seemed to stabilize and the same lot started pricing cars more "realistically"

This one has the rear wheels I like on these. Just looks nice and deep. Looks right.

I think the Z3 coupe' will.. especially the Ms.. not many of them sold
$14k seems a bit high. I figure an M should go for under $15k. I think I sold my 99 M with a bit over 100k miles for $15,8 about 3 years ago.
Someone who makes a point of telling you the car has had no accidents and that the title is clean... well... that makes me nervous, especially with a nice perfectly new looking front bumper. Those things are the perfect height to get constantly chewed up by curbs.
And I totally miss my M Coupe. That was an awesome car. Selling it was only worth it because it got me into wheel to wheel racing. If I were you, I'd hunt a little bit farther and try to find an M for about that same price.

Very good input. I'll definitely keep an eye out for cheaper examples. I really like how these things look.
I figure that most people don't know these things are rare and a couple of them may be in the hands of the ignorant who don't know what they have. Hopefully I'll be able to pick one up in the future.
Prices are ALL over the map on them. It really is about how nicely kept an example it is, and how urgently the seller wants to move it. You still won't find them "cheap". I don't think I've ever seen an M go below $10k or $11k. $12-$17k seems to be standard range for a '99-'00 (S52 engine) that has seen regular use.
I actually think the S52 is the better engine for the M than the S54. It makes less peak power, but the meat of the torque curve for around town is pretty much the same. The S52 is simpler and tends to have fewer issues.
The link below is a good reference for seeing asking prices and sale ads for M coupes across the US.
