+1 for BMW engineering.
Comment: looks like the passenger door survived. Question: did the insurance company see this video?
I was impressed by the side impact air tube thingie. That seems like it'd be good for keeping the peoples on the inside.
Steering wheel looked pretty broken though.
Wow, you really did mean understeering off a cliff, when I saw the title I assumed you were just dealing with err 'terminal' understeer not literaly 'terminal' understeer!!!

But but but air bags are bad, they add weight, the gubberment is evil, we should all be allowed to drive carbureted airbag free ABS free, stability control free cars rant rant rant.
I agree with you. All non toys have all the safety crap you can throw at them for me.
been there, done that.. thankfully there was no cliff involved. Simple overcooking of a corner, far too easy to do and if that car was stock, it did exactly what it was designed to do.. go straight if you try to turn too fast.
Hopefully nobody was too hurt.. though the pride looked like it might have gotten a bit rumpled up.. I wonder what kind of story he can tell about that accident?
Wow...if that guy didn't believe in God before I bet he does now! Good job with safety gear on BMW's part! Airbags are usually great when used in conjunction with seatbelts!
well, I am sure if I had taken that same fall in my old Fiat spider, I would not be around to post a video. Even if I had done it in my old 318ti, it would have been more painful.. though that car would have gone down the hill hatch first instead of sideways
I did basically the same thing with my old Miata. Fortunately I managed to go nose first and not roll the thing (cue sound of bullet wizzing past my ear). Those guys were just being loose and stupid - way too much crossing lanes and driving at 10/10ths on a public road.
Wonder if he knew the kid that drove his BMW into a large rock doing similar activity. Seems kinda douchey to cross the center line like that.
That dude is a terrible driver. Check out some of his other videos.
With all the track and driving events that the BMW clubs do, it's a shame they didn't do one of those instead.

The tail light pattern screamed e60 or e92.....I would laugh the rest of the day if it was an E60 M5 that managed to not go off the cliff.

IS there something bad about E60's I'm not aware of?

Heavy boat compared to the E46.....granted they handle well. I think it would just be more insulting to the e46 that met rocks.
Sort of a red herring when you consider that literally ANYTHING could go around that corner if you took it in the way the car could work with. That guy was simply a bad driver, and that was obvious before he slid off the cliff.

So are we giving credit to god or the BMW engineers for the safety equipment?
I'm confused
Guy seemed like a complete tool to me. Keep it on the track.
Here's the one someone else mentioned: Another crashing M3

To some fanboys BMW Engineers are god
I thought it would be this:

Driver was fine and the car was actually not that badly damaged, it was stopped by trees & bush.
Or possibly this:

Driver & navigator walked away despite improperly mounted seats and driver bragging about how cheaty his cage was.

Because dudebro's like this, and many other bench races, know if they go to the track they are very likely to be embarrassed by people who know how to drive.
No one likes being the guy in a Vette on Hoosiers giving point-by's to Miatas.
