this is the only instruction with my chinese $13 universal turn signal switch.
am I correct in reading this as the switch wants to send out brake and signal as one wire to each tail lamp, since it takes an additional input through the brake switch?
if so, should I be able to eliminate that red input and just send signal output to the tails? My lamp assemblies have separate stop and turn sockets

That's exactly how I read that.
Agreed, had to think about it for a minute since GM brake switches are normally closed, but since they are depressed when the brake pedal is at rest, then the switch will close when you press the brake pedal.
