I agree. I do that a lot with FoMoCo stuff, especially ignition parts. EEC doesn't play well with aftermarket sparky things.
I spent many years running repair shops and putting a warranty on those repairs. I really learned which parts work/last and which don't. Of course, that was 10 years ago and it's all changed now.

I think Codrus hit it on the head. Whatever it's worth to you. Everyone has different goals, and expectations.
I'm about to spend more on a paint job for our NB Miata than I have in the car. In this case, values have gone up enough that it's probably not a money loser considering what I have in the car. But I would have done it anyway, because I like the car, intend to keep it, and it's a paint job away from being a really nice driver.
