The youngest car I've bought was 13 years old, a '95 Samurai in 2008.
I've bought a few cars in the 6-8 year old range. For a daily that seems to be the sweet spot for me where there is still plenty of life left for a decent price.
8 years at present, 2008 P71.
Although...I think my first vehicle was a 98 that I bought in 04.
My p71s are the only vehicles I've ever bought made in this century
I bought a 2001 IS300 in 2004 with 27k. Most of my used cars have over 100k when I buy them.
I'd love to buy a young vehicle that someone else took the depreciation hit on, but they always seem to be priced so too high -no equity, or nobody with the means to have equity is dumb or unlucky enough to dump a newish car.
I usually come to my senses when thinking about newish cars before I purchase. I was looking at newish Tundras and Frontiers. They were selling for ~$4-5k less than new with 30-40k miles. At that point, and given agressive new car finance rates, might as well take the hit on a new one.
SO...old cars are like old jeans to me. Comfy, worn in, not worn out.
I bought my 2003 325i in 2006 with about 24,000 miles on it. It had been about 30 months since its into-service date.
2013 Ford Focus SE Sedan, 5 speed manual with Appearance Package. Bought October 1, 2015 with 23k miles on it.

Exactly the same, though I was going to say "about a year old"
We've been ramping it up lately. In 2012 we bought one that was only 9 years old. Then a few weeks ago we went for one that was a mere 5 years. Holy E36 M3 what a difference.
2008 Grand Caravan in late 2013 with ~78K miles. Currently at ~175K.
Absolute youngest was my '86 Toyota 4x4 purchased in '90 with about 60K miles at the time. Sold about 9 years later with ~135K.
Twice I have bought a 4 year old car. One depreciated like a rock. The other held its value insanely well.
2006 S2000 in 2010
2002 Impreza 2.5RS in 2006
I bought an '06 Magnum in '10. That was the youngest ever. I think my average mileage at purchase is right around 220k, though!
Bought myself a '91 VW GTI 16v with 9k miles on it in '92. Wish I still had it.
Bought my wife a '05 Audi A4 avant with 17k miles on it in '07.
Those the "newest" used cars I've gotten. Current wife mobile is a '08 Lexus GX470 I got her in '12.
Most of my cars now are 10-12 years old, at the newest. I currently have a '06 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, a '98 BMW M3 and a '07 KTM 990 Adventure

Uh...so...which is which? The S2k should hold its value. And I see people trying to get $7k for busted 2.5RS's soooooo....
In 06 we bought my wifes 04 saturn ion. Its the only car payment ive ever had and will never do it again. Its been a good car atleast.
In 2008 I bought a 2005 Phaeton that had 28K miles on it for $24,500. Sticker new had been $75 large so I certainly got the sweet spot of it's depreciation.
Sold in 2010 with 69,000 miles for $20,000.
Around 1986 I bought a 69 bug. Only 17 years old. Nothing newer since.
In fact, that is the latest year car I have ever owned.
One of my work vans was about 4 years old when I got it. Other than that, the current dailydriver is the newest thing I've owned, an 03 bought in '14. At the other end, Moby the Road Condo was 24 years old when we adopted it.
