I was going to say something similar regarding my '96 Dodge with typical 90s Dodge lack of interior.

Surprised to see all the Trailblazer SS recommendations. Anyone actually drive / own a Trailblazer SS? My buddy had one for a few months. Things that it didn't do well: ride, handling, fuel economy, fit/finish, reliability, cargo and passenger capacity, anything off smooth pavement. Things it did well: color (black,) noises. The platform was already very old when it came out. It's a one-trick pony. I'd rather have a Typhoon to scratch that itch.
I'd stick with the van plan. Still loving our Sienna SE. It's like a 13/10ths scale Mazda 5.
ANY love...or all-out hatred for Escalade/Navigator?
A not-so-small part of me wants a white Escalade to sort of match the V, in the douchiest of ways.

Escalades are meh unless you want that drug dealer look, but the kind in our price range make you look like the wanna be drug dealer look who actually grinds castings for work. Denalis have aged a lot better in my opinion and are the same basic truck with a little less floof and a little more appeal. Navigators are trash. There is a reason they are so much cheaper than a used Escalade or Denali for the same year and feature set.

I am in love with my shops typhoon!

I, too, am a big fan of the van plan, but if it means I have to hear “I wish we would’ve gotten....” every berkeleying day till we get whatever the other thing is, I’d rather skip the battle.
Also: Kid hauler/stuff hauler, leather interior, bells & whistles are the biggest priorities here. I’d be using it occasionally to haul stuff for work (see also: why I want a van.) Fuel economy/towing ability are irrelevant (ACTUAL gas mileage in the mazda barely averages 20mpg anyway.)
Bonus points for 4WD/AWD, but not critical.

A friend of mine used to have one and complained that it was one of the most trouble-prone vehicles he ever had. Now, he's not a car guy at all, so take it with that context, but his complaints were around the interior and how it aged poorly and how the "toys" broke.
The new Navigator is a pretty impressive piece---- if you have $100K to spend.
Used ones? Nah....I'd go with the Denali......or Escalade if you want to look like a gangsta rapper, or pro athlete.

In case you haven’t noticed, my 90’s gangster rapper alter-ego definitely plays a significant role in my vehicle choices.
4Runner Sport Edition if you don't need a ton of space. Can tow, and the XREAS suspension is actually quite good on the road, and also excellent off-road - I used to enjoy corner-carving in ours, believe it or not....not trucky at all. You could probably get an 09 with under 100k for $15k or so these days.

They are and they have really nice interior in the loaded trims. The ecoboost Navs got more power, 380hp/460+ torques vs 365/420.
I’m kind of really digging this

I don't really have anything against escalades other than I think the Denali are better looking. But, I loved cash money millionaires as a kid
Crap. I meant THIS one.

Escalades are a great place to spend time. I've had one recommended to me several times in lieu of an h2 as a potential tow rig, as excursions are only getting older.

Just as bad as a toureg, only the interior is nicer. Can be had with the TDI v10, but rarer than a running biturbo.

The H2 has to have the crappiest of the GMT800 truck based interiors. I'd look for a 3/4 ton Avalanche or Suburban first, or literally any other GMT truck or SUV if the 2500 part of the equation wasn't a requirement.
Cayenne is the best choice in this thread to fill in when the track car it towed to an event breaks and you still want the track time.
Hey, lots of people buy cars for flimsier reasons.
