That's not what people say about the Mazda 2...

A Mazdaspeed 2, now THAT would be interesting! And totally in keeping with the zoom zoom. If it stays cheaper than the Fiesta ST of course.

I guess I did make quite the generalization. I guess what I meant is that this genre of car doesn't typically come to mind as sporting or fast or anything like that. The regular model ones can be kinda plain, but a hopped-up version of each would be awesome and create almost a new genre of hot hatches!
And as a side note (pardon the pun), I checked out the Note on Nissan's website, and I'm liking the styling less the more I look at it. I actually like the look of the older hatch better-plainer, simpler, and the front end is less funky.

I actually totally disagree with that. I think the Fit and Fiesta both look and handle better than a base model Versa. If i had a base model Fit, i might keep it. If i had a base model Versa i would sell it and buy 6 old cars.
To be honest, the only good thing i've heard about the Versa is that the back seat doesn't suck.

Yup.
Fit Si Fiesta GT Mazda 2 GT
Any of them. Add 30 hp, mild suspension work, wider wheels/tires, maybe an LSD, call it good.
I've never driven a Fiesta, but I've driven a base Fit. They don't handle well. They are pretty terrible. So is the Versa. I guess the latest breed of tall crappy econo cars was never good enough for me to bother comparing handling.
Well, i see what you are after, at least.
But i would still rather have a Cube with a Juke motor, or a Juke, or a Mazda2 and do my own mods, than a Versa with mild performance upgrades from the factory. I can understand pining for a $14k 2300 lb sporty-ish car, but there's no way i would take a Versa version of said thing even if it existed.

This is what I'm thinking of too...you just said it better. :-)
Of course!! If im picking between hideous because it's hideous, and hideous because it's weird, i'll take the weird ones every time! The versa just has no excuse! It cant claim to be niche, or misunderstood, its JUST UGLY.
In reply to Vigo:
Haha, I appreciate your logic! I still wouldn't be caught dead in a Cube, but maybe a Juke!
The Cube has grown on me quite a bit. From a practicality standpoint, I love it (although would like to see a hybrid version). But I also love the price, and IMO it looks slightly better than the xB although still not great.
The Cube and Versa are pretty much the same, just with a different body, so the Versa wins in my book just cuz it's WAY less ugly. I'm a little OCD, so the fact that it's not proportional in the back kills me! They're a little too hipster and trendy for me.
This thread totally makes me want to get an "older" Versa and try to make it cool just cuz everyone here hates them!
