I laughed my ass off the whole episode, but it was very different and a kinda weird tone. From Hammond doing the intro over funny clips instead of Clarkson, to him saying "welcome to what's left of Top Gear", and the somber mood when they cut back to the studio with just the two of them.
And then at the end they say "well, thank you for watching, and good bye".

finally? i know what we're watching tonight.
I needed an Idea for Netflix tonight. Thanks
i saw that. its was very raw, and missing what i though was only a small element of the show. turns it it was the show. did you catch where jeremy said 'i hate working for top gear!"?

I agree, it was definitely lacking from it's normal feel.
Amazon needs to hurry up with the new show.

I totally caught that. I'm curious if it was left in on purpose.
I just started watching that season. Man, the whole Argentinian affair was spooky at the end. The Mustang with the cages was awesome, and I kind of think they killed off the one reliable Lotus Esprit that was ever built.
The final episode was rather sobering....then there was that very large grey thing lurking in the shadows
The last challenge seemed extra taxing on them, the episode had a bit of a somber overtone for sure. I was a bit verklempt at the end with Hammond and May saying goodbye. The last season as a whole was pretty great and I now want to go to Chile and sit on the beach that they were sitting on. Can't wait for the new season, I follow May,Hammond and Clarkson on Twitter, it looks like a lot of great things are coming.
I'm surprised it took this long for Netflix to show the episode.
not really surprising that they showed it now... they are ramping up the hype for the new Top Gear and showing the end of the old gets people ready for the new.
altho it might backfire if the new one sucks and will only serve to drive people towards the new show with the old hosts...
I wish TGUS was on Netflix. I liked them but ditched satellite long ago

I thought the "elephant in the room" was hysterical the way it kept moving around the studio.
But at the same time, watching the segments that were filmed, I wonder if it was the right time for them to move on anyway. Their builds and adventures just didn't seem to have the same feeling anymore, and have been slowly going downhill for a couple years.
The ambulance challenge during the last season was hilarious.

I've heard the US version did get better, but Hulu has season 1. Hm, guess I could still form my own opinion tonight. EDIT: Apparently they have the first 4 seasons...

the funniest part, besides the penis wheels that i've never actually seen in the wild, was the part where they drove their classic cars into the garage, spent 6 months in there with them, and came back out in the spring. you guys in the south can't appreciate that, but up here it's exactly the same as we do up here.

It's funny cause it's true.
For you James May fans, look on Youtube for 'james may the reassembler'. He did a short series of shows on the BBC recently where he takes a common object that's been taken completely apart and spread across a table, and then reassembles it. The episodes include a lawnmower, a telephone, and an electric guitar.

I was glad to see the new Miata made it in before the end.
I have tried to get this image up to no avail.
