Here's some nice, original footage from an Italian hillclimb event:

Lots of Italian hardware, with Fiat's (500's. 850's, 124's, 128's and Abarth's), and guest appearances from Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Alpine, Porsche, Simca and an odd (but cool) emergency van - those are just the production cars.

Enjoy!

Sweet find! That Alpine was nice to see, too.

Nice find! Neat video.

I think there was an NSU Prinz/TT in there, too, (at 3:10).

good vintage music in that video, good music. watching all those cars go through, about 75% of them looked like the only reason they didn't traction roll was because the tires started sliding first must have been one hell of a fun ride though... especially in those sports racers and formula cars at the end of the video, but all those Fiat 500s must have been a hoot to flog up the hill too

Great Video!

I looked like there was a couple of McLaren's running....

Was it just me, or did the group 7 cars sound like anything but 'murican V8's??

yeah, I noticed what looked like Mclaren Can-Am cars, but not running the usual fare of american V8s, once of them even only had one set of velocity stacks offset to the side as opposed to the usual two sets for a V8, so I'm thinking some sort of small Italian straight-4, perhaps an Alfa engine?

I briefly saw a 124 sport coupe.. but the film edited it out just as it came into view.

Most of those that looked like mclarens were abarth sports racers similar to this 2000

was McLaren making sports racers in 1971?

yeah, they made sports racers earlier than that I do believe with the M1A/B and the M6, and there were some cars towards the end that I swear looked just like a M1A, but with a 4 cylinder instead of a big American V8

Oh, wow! I'd stumbled across "roydpg"s vids on youtube before (when looking for videos of 70s ETCC races), but hadn't seen this one before.

Y'all should look at his profile, and some of the other stuff he's posted up. From what I can tell, he's a native of Italy, and was a professional videographer back then. He started posting up vids as a tribute to his wife (who was a professional still photographer during the same era) after she died, and they're all fantastic!! I think he's got about 120 or so vids uploaded now.

Here's one with a little shot of Rosanna (in 1973) before he points the cam at the cars..

Most of the sports racers in the video are Abarth's and use engines (usually Fiat's) under two liters. One, however was a dark blue Alfa Romeo 33/3 and sported a three liter V8.

There were several displacement-limited classes for "pure" racing cars, i.e. formula cars and sports racers.
