Much of that is true, but I have no problems playing games on monitors with my FOV jacked to infinity.  I play Assetto Corsa with mine FOV set to max.  Yes, there is a bit of distortion, but its much better than playing with an unrealistically narrow field of view.  Personally I think VR headsets have unrealistically narrow FOVs also, but I havent messed with jacking the FOV up as I would with a monitor.

VR eliminates all this while giving you a FOV that almost perfectly matches what I see from my real helmet.

FWIW, Snell and FIA both have requirements regarding an FOV of 180deg.

FIA for example:

My FOV is about 90 degrees at the edges of my peripheral vision, that is no big.

Same here. I rather rent a setup instead of building/buying one, Since I won't use it much.

I know I'll use it a ton once built. Just need GPU's to actually become available again so I can build a PC.

Very nice. I modified a Playseat Evolution to solidly bolt together and the flex decreased to the level of my friend's Next Level rig. Your message is a good one, it's possible to modify the entry level rigs to perform far better for cheap.
