I found this on FB and am interested in it. Seller bought it from a buddy who was the original owner. Story is he bought it to fix but has decided not to now. Will take $1500 (at this point). Any Volvo folks have ideas on why the car would be cranking but not starting? It would be a perfect car for my soon to be 16 year old son. And, if the price gets a bit better, a possible 2020 Challenge entry.

There could be all sorts of reasons, same as any other crank/no fire.

Five cylinder Volvos either run, or have a broken timing belt 90% of the time.

Other than that, there's all sorts of normal issues.  Fuel pumps, crank sensors, etc.

Timing belt is 20k miles old. Hoping it’s not that.

Crank position sensor or coils possibly.  I don’t know Volvo very well but the 9-5 Saab’s could cook the cool set and cause non start.  Fuel pump you can test for pressure at the rail.

I had the cam position sensor go bad on my 850 with similar symptoms. 5 minute job to replace it, if that is the problem.
