Guys, please stop worrying about the pump in the fuel tank. As noted in the very first post, this car has NO pump in the tank.
And it does not need one.
It was a running, driving, streetable, racing car, not a half finished swap. My problem REALLY IS there is no fuel getting to the injectors.. I don't need to do random diagnostics or swapping odd unrelated parts. I don't need to double check a pump that's not there. I don't need to swap a fuel tank in the hope of creating some magical wizardry that would start a car without getting fuel to the injectors. I need to get fuel to the injectors.

Then stop focusing on that and read and acknowledge the rest of the posts saying your fuel distributor is plugged up and needs to be cleaned or rebuilt.
I mean, you'll want to jumper the fuel pump relay to ensure there isn't something stopping the pump from running. Otherwise the fuel is getting to the distributor and no further. Not much different than spark from a coil getting to the cap but not to the plug wires or plugs.
You can clean the injectors with an ultrasonic cleaner and some injector cleaner fluid, but you'll need to get fuel to them first.

The head gasket might be blown.
Maybe it's humid.
As has been posted already, jump the fuel pump to run continuous at the relay (30 to 87), pull the injectors, with a magnet or set of vise grips gently gripping the nutnin the middle of the flapper plate pull up on plate (should be some resisitance) and see if you get flow at the injectors. If none, crack the injectors lines on top of distributor to see if there's pressure there. I believe as others that the distributor is gummed up. It can be cleaned and rebuilt. A friend did one for me. Get the special anerobic sealant that goes on either side of the thin metal gasket or it will leak badly.
Not sure I've seen which FD you have, but the pic posted with the alum body one is the CIS-E one.
I agree that your FD is likely plugged (somewhere) but the injectors can also stick and clog. They are easy enough to remove and test, especially if you confirm you have fuel to the injectors.
In reply to Paul_VR6 (Forum Supporter) :
It's Bosch part number 0 438 101 039.
As noted, no fuel getting to the injectors. I know this because I removed them. No reason to test the injectors if there is no fuel getting to them.

I'm trying hard to not focus on that stuff. Everyone else seems to be.
Of the 17 responses on page 1, 8 of them referenced things that that were completely irrelevant based on my very first post. That's not a very good track record- makes me think people aren't reading.
For the record, yes your posts have been helpful, and yes I acknowledge that my fuel distributor is plugged. (Though I'm pretty sure I knew that before I started this thread). I will be working on it this weekend based on the info you posted.
And maybe I will check to see if the in-tank fuel pump is working.
In reply to SVreX (Forum Supporter) :
You shouldn't need to remove anything to see if the pump is working. Those old Bosch pumps are loud. If you don't hear it when you turn the key you know it's not working.

There are also 8 correct replies, which you did not acknowledge. Ignore the information that you know to be incorrect, and the whole first page was correct...
In reply to Streetwiseguy :
That's not actually correct. Half of those were neutral, or off topic.
I didn't think it was necessary to reply to people that told me my fuel distributor was clogged when I already knew that before I started the thread, and made it clear in the first post.
Sorry if I failed to recognize you appropriately. I didn't realize we had such a detailed protocol for responding.
In reply to SVreX (Forum Supporter) :
Wasn't really that you didn't respond to me, more that you devoted your energies to telling people it wasn't the fuel pump, so maybe we thought you didn't get it...
Have you pulled the fuel distributor off yet?
Not yet. Life has happened, and I've had to let it sit for a couple weeks.
Right now had to tear the garage apart to deal with a termite repair.
