That flat six overrun rasp. I love it! (youtube.com)

Not a Porsche.........Engine is a Goldwing flat six, and it ends up in that Hillman Imp in the background. Now that's thinking outside the box !

I long have thought that engine would be perfect in a home built car!

That or a BMW opposed engine, shiny valve covers sticking out the sides of a Lotus 7 clone.

That should make an Imp a whole lot of fun. Mine were fun with 875cc and 46bhp.

Been following that for years. I am glad he is doing it so I don't have to

His work with a round column Rong-Fu bench top milling machine proves that you don't need a giant Bridgeport to do real machining.

I never thought about it before but I'm thinking about it now! I think that most, if not all, of them have a reverse gear which nicely address one of the issue with bike engined cars.

The reverse in a Gold Wing uses the starter motor. Come to a full and complete stop, push the reverse button on the left bar and push the starter button on the right bar. Slightly slower than a walking pace. Still, it's better than nothing...

And while the GL1800 makes solid powa compared to a Hillman (or just about any British engine of that vintage) their strength is in their torque off idle. If you're not looking for neck snapping accleration, they would make a good basis for any BEC.

I can't find the photo for some reason but there is a Locost 7 with an ACVW engine up front. I would love that immensely.

This is one of my favorite builds: the way he approaches things is refreshing.

Is this the one you are thinking of?

In reply to rdcyclist :

Torque was the missing element in the Imp. So was transaxle reliability, I had two on road abrupt total loss failures, one with pieces on the ground at 36 lb.ft. and a 1600 lb car.
