Anybody have a lead on some decent aluminum wheels for an RX7.
15" is mandatory.
I could go as narrow as 7" would prefer 8".
No wheel spacers.
No more steel wheels (i want smooth, not bouncy wheels from here on out).
New or used is fine.
Thanks,
Rob R.
Any concerns for weight? And what offset range?
Plenty of 90s - mid 2000s Jeeps had 15x7s and 15x8s on them (8s mostly on Wranglers) in 5x114.3 that should be available dirt cheap. Offsets are fairly low (in the 10 - 25 range), so you shouldn't need spacers.

I might know a guy...
Yep, I forgot to get in touch with you before you came out this way.
I still need another set.
Stock jeep wheels are 15 x 7 are the largest that I could find. (that's what we run now).

I would obviously prefer as light as possible... We run the gold mesh jeep wheels on the car now with a minimal front spacer (due to wheel hitting caliper).

Might be heading your way again Saturday. Plans are still up in the air, but I'll let you know if you're gonna be around.
The 5 spoke "canyon" wheels on late 90's TJ Wranglers were 15x8 from the factory and have roughly the same backspacing/offset as the gold Grand Cherokee wheels you're running. They show up on CL regularly and look like this:
Note that the Grand Cherokees had an identical-looking wheel that was only 7" wide. They had center caps with the Jeep logo on them.

And in addition to those, the later TJ Wrangler (figure early to mid 2000s) had an option for a different 15x8 (called Ravines):
Really? I didn't realize the Ravines were 8s too. I've always liked those.

Yeah, and I think there was a 15x8 variant of the YJ Gambler wheel too. And then there's the 16x8 Moabs.
In reply to rslifkin :
I'd love to find a set of the Moabs for my GC, but looks like I'll be running the 2 tone Limited Snowflakes for now.
Sorry for the hijacking, stopping now.
I just purchased an FC for my challenge car. How well do these jeep wheels fit under the stock fender and what size tires are you running? Going to start searching for a cheap set.
These are all the ones for Jeeps I can find listed as 15x8
Whatever you do, DON'T get Rota Slipstreams (although the 40mm offset would probably keep you from getting them to start with). I got a set of 15x8's for my FC, but they appear to be a 4 lug design drilled to be 5 lug, as there were pockets in the back of the hub that put sharp corners just a mm or two from two of the lug holes. One cracked on me and fortunately I found it when the lug just wouldn't snug up, before I went back out on track.
So, most of the jeep wheels fit. The problem with some of them is that they hit a nub on the caliper.
The gold ones I posted earlier bolt right on and have no issues.
I will be test fitting some other ones soon. Maybe saturday.
Man, I would love to find a set of those gold Ravines. If anybody sees a set, let me know.
EDIT: crap, I found a set in NE Tennessee on CL. Got an email out to the guy. That's a 6 hour drive one way. I'm not sure if I hope he has them, or hope he doesn't.
^^also 15x8, from 04-06 Wrangler
I found a set of the 5 spoke shown above (the ones that are shown in silver and gold) for $50.00 for all 4. I think I'll pick them up!
In reply to impulsive :
I'm 99% sure those aren't a factory Jeep wheel.

I puled the image from here: http://www.wheelcollision.com/store/H9109-09109XXPO-WRANGLER.htm
car-part lists a 15x8 aluminum 8 hole and the results bring up 04-06 Wranglers along w/more images such as this one:
10 seconds with the google tells me these were made by Alcoa and came on RME Wranglers.
In reply to impulsive :
Huh, seems like Jeep did put Alcoas on a few TJs. As far as I can tell, they're only slightly more common a unicorn wearing pants though, as they only used those in 04 (05 RME had Ravines on it) and I don't think they sold a lot of RMEs (I've never personally seen one).
I'm paying attention to this. I'm gonna need wheels for a '71 Ford station wagon soon (I hope)
I'm also thinking that maybe Crown Vic (cop steelies?) or Mustang (Bullitt??) wheels may work, but are 16 or 17".

Earlier Mustang wheels are 15x7 and come in a few different styles. I run the 3 spoke version on my RX7.

I have a set of FD wheels I may sell. They are 16x8 and are super light weight.
I got a set of the ravines. Definitely 15 x 8.
They fit with about 1/4 inch spacer on the front (to clear the brake caliper nub).
Yeah! Cheap 15 x 8 wheels for the racecar!
