If so, what model/year?
In the 8 series, yes I think it was. Those trans were expensive 15 years ago though. Hate to see em now.
Actually...McLaren F1 But in a BMW, no, i don't think so. EDIT, Robbie is right, in the 850 as well
You could get a manual transmission in an 850i, it didn't have to be the csi model. My cousin used to have one although I don't know the model year.
Hey, we just featured an 8 Series with a stick over on the Classic Motorsports site: Unicorn alert: BMW 850i with a stick shift

Actually, not bad if the internet is to be believed https://www.bmw-all-parts.com/bmw-manual-transmission-23001222285-s6s-560g-talr-getrag-560g-6-speed-fits-m70-v12-for-bmw-e31
C&D tested an 850. They called it a German Thunderbird, and suggested that the shifter and clutch action were so poor that you should get the automatic.
Car and Driver said to avoid the manual transmission.

C&D has weird opinions on a handful of things but I've never found them to be wrong when they say to skip the manual gearbox for any given vehicle.
If we're being honest, I don't think the power/torque characteristics of a typical BMW V12 (not talking about the McLaren engine or M8 proto or similar stuff here) really lend themselves to a great row-your-own experience anyway.

Yeah, but if you look up the review they said the SAME THING ABOUT THE E39 540i. Like, for reals.

FYI at least one company makes an adaptor plate to mate the M70 with the G250 or ZF 310/320 from the e36/e46 (which aren't hard to find).
Price isn't bad, actually. Hard to say how well those transmissions will hold up to the V12's torque, though.
